Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! The Honorable Game Thread of Twins Daily is now in session. All seeking entertainment from baseball draw near. God save Twins Daily and this honorable Game Thread.

Today the Twins go for a sweep of the Rays, and try to build on their wild card lead.

Things to think about:

Stolen Game Threads: Yesterday I signed into my e-mail account for the first time in about a week, and found a peaceful assembly of those obnoxious things, and as I was scrolling through and looking at 'em I saw one that had the subject of, "Brock Beauchamp started a new personal conversation with you." At first I was surprised, and then I wondered what he would want to talk to me about, but I kept on going through my other e-mails, and finally it was time to open up Brock's message, so I decided to try to think of what he wanted to PM me about. The first thing I thought was that for some reason I must be getting banned, but I then I thought that a Mod would probably write to me, so then I just decided to open it up, and saw that he was pleading guilty to the misdemeanor (misdemeanour if you are twinsnorth49 or any other Canadian) of stealing a Game Thread from me, but he did an excellent job, so I decided to let him leave it up, and all of us celebrated Beat the Rays Day.

Tropicana Field: The biggest joke in baseball, and the amazing thing is that they actually get people to pay to enter. It is really sad that they play baseball in this thing, the only stadiums that come close to being this bad are the A's, Blue Jays, and the House that Cheater Built, but since we are done playing them for the year (not counting playoffs) it makes it easier to rant at the Trop, but don't get me wrong, I have no personal offense against the Rays, they are a team that is praised for their great drafts, and I love great drafts, even if your first pick ends up being a failure, you release him, then he goes on to win an MVP award and whip you in the playoffs two years in a row, or if you get an outfielder with bloodlines, and he gets a notion to start spanking umpires, make bad throws, and add a bunch of weight, then you trade him for a potential ace, he bounces around, and ends up finishing in the top ten for MVP and wins a postseason award, meanwhile this ace showed bright spots, but you had to trade him because you had a penny-pinching owner who doesn't want to pay more than $500,000 for an Eric Sogard hating pitcher (although that came later), and you get a dude named Chris Archer who you swindle into a longterm contract that is team friendly, and then this GM who is so smart ditches you, as well as your snake-loving manager.

“In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.” C.S. Lewis.

That quote was intended for the Rays owner.

Team Friendly: This saying is deceptive, it is like calling theft "unconventional shopping" or cannibalism "alternative cuisine" or insider trading "financial creativity." Team Friendly deals aren't as immoral as those, but in my opinion we should paint in bold colors, and not in pale pastels, and be blunt, and call things what they are, and since team friendly deals are swindling, we should call it swindling, but you might say, "These baseball players are making enough money! Why should they make more?" but these owners are a bunch of killers who are in it to take advantage of people, whether it is the fans at the gate, or the players in arbitration, but at least the players have agents, who are professional swindlers themselves. I guess that some people will have to be content with what goes on between the lines, and in the end that is what actually matters, but it all starts in the front office, with the crooked businessmen, and that is what fascinates me, even if I hate it, and root for both sides to loose, because baseball is forever changing, on the field and off, and since it is always changing it stays the same, which is ironic.

Go Twins!

There is no weather today.

That was not on any of the three sites I check.......

I'm beginning to wonder on the quality of your sites if they miss something so basic as Nat'l Burger Day! (But maybe you're still reveling in Nat'l IPA Day that it matters not.) :)

btw, I've always wondered what the delta was between pot de crème and crème brulee.....

And, just searched another site, and it is national banana lovers day.....not banana day, but the day we celebrate those that love bananas?

As for burger day, it's not listed on any of the sites, national day, Wikipedia, a few others......it seems to be bogus, I tell you, bogus.

Breaking news!!

I have it on good authority that Hrb hates bananas. We are not celebrating Hrb tonight.

(I've always hated the dancing banana emoji, but on this special occasion I'll make a rare exception.)

With both Plouffe and Mauer at 1B, good luck to TB in getting any ground balls through that side.

I don't always agree with mww...but when I do, it's about how Robinson shouldn't be playing.

Robinson for Rosario tonight. Less a fan of this than when Sugar Shane replaces Hunter.

I was just thinking about the same thing earlier today, but more on the lines of: Should Robinson not be starting in front of Hunter regularly? For all the grief Robinson has taken, he has been quietly much more productive in the last month than Torii. I apologize for using a game thread for baseball related discussion, I promise it won't happen again! :)

Robinson in left AND Hunter in right.  Interesting. Rosario given the day off.

Why?  Just because....which reminds me that it is National Just Because Day.

Why should we beat the Rays?  Just because.

I think Robinson has family down there in the Tampa area.  Might have something to do with that.

My grand plan to increase hits at nationaldaycalendar is almost reaching a peak!*

*actually, I have no interest in that......just in case people can't tell my sarcasm from non-sarcasm....

What's that you say?  It's National Hits Day?  Well, then let the Twins hit the ball all night long.

Why should Boyer pitch two high-leverage innings right after he came off the DL? Just because.

Robison has the second highest OPS after Sano since the All-Star break. I think they think they are riding a hot streak.

Probably need a separate thread for this.  I know we would all like to think that any team that makes the playoffs has a shot at getting hot and winning it all, but really there aren't that many teams that are truly good teams this year.

KC, St. Louis, Toronto, Houston?

I don't watch the Mets or the Dodgers to really get a feel for them.  Yankees aren't anything special unless they play us.

The rest of the pack is just a bunch of mediocre mush followed by the rebuilders.

Who has a legitimate shot of winning this?
