When I first saw the title, I thought it was to expound on what I heard a couple days ago on MLB Network. Seems way, way back when they powers to be were leery of using pitcher wins and RBI at all due to them being so dependent on many others doing the job that gave credit to one guy. Apparently they came close to not using them at all in box scores. In the end, they decided it was just easier to use them.

It was on MLB Now with Brian Kenny.  Not sure how I'd find it.It wasn't a long discussion or anything like a whole segment.

But here is the origin on the modern day pitcher win.  In there are plenty of quotes talking about whether or not they should be included.  Conversations that took place a long time ago.
