biggentleben Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Terry Ryan came on the Twins broadcast last night and said Correa looks like a young Alex Rodriquez - but then said Buxton was faster... Agree at the plate, but A-Rod was an elite defensive player. Correa won't hurt them at shortstop, but he won't be making anyone forget Ozzie Smith or Andrelton Simmons.

The only metric that covers A-Rod's entire SS career is Total Zone, which grades him out as 2 runs per season above average. The same metric has Smith at 13 and Simmons at 21 (!).
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 We do and I even said that. But you're passive aggressive rips on the Twins and Buxton were what was driving this. pointing out that Correa missed most of last season, like Buxton, is a rip on the Twins how? I guess my point is, there is room for both to be great players, and I don't get the need to denigrate the Astros on this site, since it seems to have worked out pretty well for them.

But if there is even the slightest opportunity (real or imagined) to denigrate the Twins...
