Apparently he got a concussion and some broken ribs on the collision.  He also hurt his spleen and needed surgery.  Looks painful.

Sounds pretty bad. With a ruptured spleen he might never play again.

The spleen is also the emergency blood supply, and some people think it hindered Carl Pavano's comeback.

He also plays for the Rock Cats, so I guess collisions are something they have a problem with, no matter who's affiliate they are.

Pavano potentially losing a lot of blood hindered his comeback? I don't think so, Pavano not being very good anymore hindered his comeback. Losing  your spleen is not going to hinder much of anything, at least if you still have a functioning liver and a working lymphatic system. 

 

In fact most athletes can be back in action 8-10 weeks after having it removed.
