I'd certainly would want Red-Dog to be on the short list also, and honestly, I would want him to be the manager in that scenario, but Molitor is going nowhere, Paul may be 58 going on 59, but I think he has something to prove to himself as a manager.

If what you proposed happens, my socks would be blown off. But as they say, anything is possible. My guess is that Molitor puts in at least 5 years.

The percentages of how things might play out are definitely pretty fluid, however, Terry's health issues are going to be an ongoing concern. I would also think he feels obligated to the Pohlad's to getting the club back to where it was a decade ago, before he would ever consider easing back on his current schedule. That timetable could be accelerated if the Twins can finish the year out strong, while simultaneously quickly putting most of the prospect pieces in place by the end of the 2015 season. And also thinking realistically, should he have a health setback, the timetable for succession might get accelerated, regardless.  In which case, I am strongly opposed to "Plan A".... ie,  handing the reins to Rob Antony.

Me too. I don't think anybody they have in the front office is suitable replacement for Ryan. If I had to choose it would be Goins - and that's my choice choosing from the best of the worst.

Not that any cancer is something to blow off, but Ryan had a treatable cancer and I bet he is back to being close to 100%.

Ryan is 61 or something close to that, not too far off of Molitor's age range, but if Ryan had to step down and the Twins named Molitor their GM, that would be interesting to say the least.

Your posts have brought up a great topic... who is Terry Ryan's successor? There is not one person in their front office that I would feel very good about being the next general manager.

I would choose Molitor.

Loris just assigned GM Dan Jennings to be the new manager.

And if you guessed that this man has literally as much management experience as you and I on any level, you would be correct.

Ugh....hiring ANOTHER white guy with ZERO experience for the job. How does this keep happening in MLB?

'Cause all the guys who have experience and aren't doing a firable job are already managing elsewhere.

So today they reassign Brett Butler from 3B coach to outfield & base-running coach.

He may or may not have resigned after that.  (Still unclear.)
