Hrbowski Verified Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Why would the Brewers want three catchers? And if they do my guess is that Pinto would be one of them.I like Lucroy, and have viewed him as a trade target since 2012, but with him being on the DL we can't trade for him, and apparently they are not willing to trade him: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/05/the-brewers-may-deal-but-they-arent-going-to-deal-jonathan-lucroy/ Also, I don't think that he would be amused at the trade, he HATES Target Field, and that kind of attitude would not be good, but that might have been just a bunch of hot air.
zchrz Provisional Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 To early to start selling prospects, I think ideally you wait until Buxton, Sano, and a top of the rotation starter (Berrios or Meyer) have got some traction in the majors. Once they are starting to produce supplement the team where need and opportunity presents itself.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I understand that, but then you'll just have to rely on the prospects working, because you aren't getting great players any other way.....And you aren't getting any younger great player ever w/o paying at least that much. How much does adding one of the top 20 or so players, to your team speed up the rebuild? I just don't think Lucroy is a top player, certainly not top 20. I also find it highly likely his best years are behind him. These are the kinds of moves Ryan should have been considering last decade when the team was close but a player or two short of having a real shot. I don't like the move when your team still is this unsettled.
lightfoot789 Verified Member Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Milwaukee already has a future All Star catcher in the FSL in Clint Coulter (The Top Catching Prospect in MWL last year / Over Garver). They have a Top 100 prospect in SS Orlando Arcia (Oswaldo's brother). They also have Segura at SS now who is as good as anyone we have at SS in the system. The Brewers need young pitching prospects who can help soon and some Power bats. The Trade: Lucroy for current catching prospect Pinto; Pitching Prospects Meyers & Duffy; and Milwaukee's own Adam Brett Walker (OF/1B). You could probably throw in a Bard and or Oliveros for that matter.
lightfoot789 Verified Member Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 or Trade:Pinto; Arcia (can be with brother soon); and a Duffy & Wheeler for Lucroy.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 or Trade:Pinto; Arcia (can be with brother soon); and a Duffy & Wheeler for Lucroy. The Brewers fall out of their chair laughing. Then call back. Ask what your offer is. You repeat this offer. They laugh until they wet themselves. Then they trade him to a major contender for a top 25 prospect among other prospects in the deal and they laugh with that team about the offer they received.
