With the bases loaded and nobody out... A fairly routine 6-2-3 Double play ball is bobbled by Santana in the 8th inning. No outs are made and the Royals go one to score 6 in the inning.

We need to change the definition of routine this year.

I actually thought May was great through 5 and I think once our pathetic defense let more runners on he imploded and lost confidence. He was only at like 70 pitches I believe and had been cruising. He was getting ahead and changing things up. Striking people out. I have watched every game and I think that minus the bad defense, this was our best start yet. May had lots of quick outs.

Yes - May pitched very well (with the exception of whatever he threw to Kendrys Morales), and I think the loss he earned for his efforts should be assigned to his defense instead.

In the sixth, the Royals started hitting the ball hard, and I really wish that May had been given the chance to get himself out of that jam after the intentional walk. Despite the shaky defense to that point, I feel like inducing a ground ball was not out of the question.

The bullpen put the game out of reach pretty quickly. I'm really mystified by J.R. Graham's appearance- he was pretty wild, which I don't think is his usual m.o. ?

You mean like a stand up routine?

 

Joking aside, it's still early. It may not be promising at the moment, but they can still turn things around. Especially as the minors have hit the ground running, so any promotions will likely carry do their best to carry that momentum.

 

One of those "nowhere to go but up" situations.

I have a dream of the July/August Twins having two good outfielders in it.  In the meantime, it may be tough to watch.
