Umpires vs Refs....

Apparently the NFL has turned over 18.5% of officials the last two years, in an effort to improve officiating (wish the NCAA had done that.....). Anyone have any idea on MLB umpire turnover?

No idea but would bet it's lower b/c they have a pretty strong union (and I'm usually pro-union).

Unions are most effective when there is true competition in the market for their work.  When you have too much leverage over the employer and there is a union?  That's when stupid stuff becomes common.  See teachers, police, auto-workers, etc.  (And I'm a teacher)
