Tom Kelly in Ft. Myers

The reporters who are down in Ft. Myers this morning were treated to a 30-minute press conference with former Manager Tom Kelly. TK arrived in Ft. Myers yesterday and was at the ballpark early this morning. Just five months ago, he had a stroke, but doctors gave him the OK to travel and participate (in a limited way) in the Twins workouts. From various tweets from the Twins beat writers there, he will continue to do his Good Morning America stuff and hit ground balls. He may just need to go a little slower.

 

The other piece of information to come out is that he will most likely not return to FSN for any more broadcasts. 

 

Good to hear that he's in Ft. Myers and doing alright.

Yeah but I gotta think that 3-4 hours in the booth is more draining for him than 2 weeks on the field.  And he did say he'll make the occasional appearance -- but as more of a guest interview, I think.

 

Sounds like he was thoroughly enjoying himself this a.m. -- so eager he showed up at 7 a.m.
