Can managers be traded in MLB?

I seem to remember it happening a few times but I can't remember if MLB changed the rules on that.  Anyone know?  The reason I bring it up was this Joe Posnanski column on Ned Yost - http://joeposnanski.com/joeblogs/the-gomes-affair/  In that column, Posnanski opines that a guy like Dusty Baker (who statheads always attacked), might have been a better manager for this KC team.

Say what you will about Gardy but he seems like a really good fit for KC over Yost.  I don't think Ryan wants Gardy to go (and there's probably an open thread on that so we don't need to start it here) but if KC has a manager led fiasco in August or in the playoffs, maybe Moore tries to pry Gardy away?

The answer is yes.  Managers can be traded.  The last example of this that I can remember happening was the White Sox trading Ozzie Guillen to Miami for a few prospects.

I have a hard time believing that KC would fire the manager that got them to the playoffs for the first time in 30 years right after the season though.

I think a lot depends on Detroit and KC. Right now, KC is getting by on some luck (they're a good team but playing four games over they pythag) and Detroit is basically handing away the division right now.

I don't think KC makes a move if they make the playoffs (that seems illogical). But if they miss, anything could happen.

I've been a bit surprised on how much KC fans seem to dislike Yost.

Wasn't the last manager to be traded John Farrell?

fwiw according to Wiki he interviewed for Boston

Boston traded for the rights to hire him away from Toronto, who he was still under contract with at the time, however.  I know this mainly because one of the players involved in the deal is a fairly prominent part of the Atlanta bullpen, David Carpenter.  This from his B-Ref page in the transactions section:

October 21, 2012: Traded by the Toronto Blue Jays with John Farrell (as manager) to the Boston Red Sox for Mike Aviles.
