Article: Twins Trade Kendrys Morales for Seattle Reliever Stephen Pryor

I agree. It seems odd that one of the least likely to be moved was moved first. We have three more potential FA's to move. Hopefully there are better returns ahead.

So did Polanco replace him on the 40 man or 25?

25

Polanco never left the 40-man when sent back to FTM.

Surprising this happened so soon, to echo John, and I do think it means more accelerated moves to come. Just don't expect big returns.

Im a little surprised by this move. I would have thought a younger, lower level prospect with upside. However, it has been my speculation that with Burton not back next season, the Twins might sign a veteran bullpen arm to work the 7th and 8th innings in front of Perkins, allowing Tonkin, Achter and others to compete for middle roles while gaining experience. Adding another strong young arm like Pryor might change this thought process.

I don't think this happened too soon. Trade deadline is next week and I am not sure Morales makes it through August trade waivers. Willingham would. This is a move that needed to be made. Saved 4 million and picked up the guy that Seattle was probably going to have to remove from their 40 man to create an opening. I feel the Morales at bats will be used to decide who may be able to help the twins in the future. Too soon? I wish it happened last week.

Happy birthday yesterday to Mr. Pryor. His minor league stats don't stand out. I have to think he's probably forgettable.

Saw Pryor pitch a few times, the stuff is there. Strong arm. If he can stay healthy and the Twins can teach him control (which they're pretty good at) we could have something. I like the move. Hopefully it works out better than Hoey.

Plouffe is next, Dodgers I say.

I don't think this happened soon at all. .it takes two to trade and Seattle is in the WC hunt (or they think they are). . I'm guessing that they institued the talks and wanted Morales ASAP. Good move by theTwin also. . . they save money in a non-contending year. . and if they truly love Morales (which I don't think they do. . they can go after him as a free agent)

Also, I'm thinking that Fien will continue to be the 8th inning guy next year. A couple relievers (Pressly, Achter, Tonkin, etc) will fight it out for Gurrier and Burton spots)
