twinsfan214's Achievements

  1. Yes, Morales was way too expensive for the return. I gotta say it's nice to see the Twins pick up someone under 30 for a change.
  2. No, there's not a MLB gene for playing but you gotta think that having a dad who was a major leaguer has prepared him for peripherial junk that comes with the game (travel, press etc.). I think that's going to help him. As for hitting the other way, you can imagine the Twins would never think that is an issue. There is a player on the big team who has made a pretty good career doing that almost exclusively.
  3. Hicks is getting on via walks but also seems to be striking out a lot. It seems like he takes way too many pitches when he has two strikes. Just like with preparation, some pieces are missing with "how he goes about his business". As for using the age card, I remember another player who never lived up to the hype who everyone kept saying "remember, he's only (insert age here)". Delmon Young.
  4. I agree with most of these and some have already happened (Florimon down) but we lost Raley. I'm wondering about Nunez. Everything I've read says he is not an MLB caliber SS. His hitting is decent but his fielding is attrocious. Small sample yes but what I've seen of Santana I like. Can Nunez play outfield (and I mean really play outfield. Not like Colabello and Escobar)?
  5. I guess you weren't at the game on 4/9 where Hughes threw over 40 pitches in the most excruciating inning (the 1st) I've ever witnessed in person. Whatever, maybe I'm jaded but I've been burned so many times after getting my confidence in a pitcher up (see Pelfrey by the end of last season) that I would say the jury on Hughes is still most decidedly out.
  6. I assume the two other posters are being ironic. Sabermetrics says to get on base, the key being "it doesn't matter how".
  7. I agree Deduno should be starting (maybe instead of Nolasco ). Anyway, as long as he's in the BP I just hope they have made a note NOT to put him in in extra innings situations.
  8. I'd like to see them take Colabello north, I think he's earned it. Although we all know hitting in ST doesn't necessarily transfer to the regular season (see Hicks 2013). But yeah, he was pmki in AAA last year. I hope they don't pick Kubel over CC. Yes, I'm hoping Gardy says "Day-bee" not Debby (sigh).
  9. I was shocked when he made the starting lineup out of ST. As I recall, he wasn't that sharp then either and such a short timer after TJ surgery I assumed he'd go to Rochester.
  10. Aaaah! I have tickets for tomorrow's game. Please play!
  11. I agree the walks are nice but he's just taking too many pitches and not knowing what to go for and getting lucky (it seems). However, I like that I'm seeing fewer swings and misses and more fly/ground outs. Yes, they're still outs but he's getting his bat on the ball a bit more often. To me, this will lead to more hits. I wonder though, did it seem like the last couple of pitchers were pitching him a bit differently? When he would get two strikes I would say "ok here comes the junk pitch which he will swing at and miss", but it didn't really happen with Peavy and Floyd.
  12. The starting lineup doesn't look tooo bad but that bench makes me cringe.
  13. EXACTLY what I was thinking.
  14. Ew, first you guys mention bringing back Lirano, and now Punto. Stop scaring me! It's time for Punto to go. He's got his ring.
