Twinfan603 Verified Member Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Does anyone have any info on how the following offseason is going to proceed? I haven't seen much reporting on it. My main question, is there still going to be a Rule 5 Draft like normal, and who will the Twins need to protect? Will the rules change since the minors didn't play this year and so many guys lost an entire season?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I wrote this in January about who the team would need to add this offseason ahead of the Rule 5 draft. http://twinsdaily.com/articles.html/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins-minor-leagues/looking-way-ahead-who-needs-to-be-added-to-the-40-man-roster-in-november-r8853 Three of the four "Givens" were added during the season, and the other is certainly a given still. I believe everything business-wise is still on, in terms of dates, including the Rule 5 draft. That said, may not be in person.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 In addition to Seth's list, another great source for Rule 5 stuff is the Roster Resource pages now at Fangraphs: https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/twins See the "Options" column. If it says "R5" that player is already Rule 5 eligible, otherwise it may say the date of the first draft when they will be eligible (so look for "Dec'20" to see who the first-time eligibles will be this winter).

I've spent my fair share of time on FG but didn't know they had this detailed list. This is awesome!
