  1. Interesting. Thanks for a lot of information that many of us didn't know.
  2. Interesting, Cody. Personally, I don't care about his prospect status. What I care about is that he arrives at Target Field as soon as possible and is the best player on the field for a long, long time. Hopefully, that arrival is late this year.
  3. Lots of comments above about "until Rodriguez gets here." I have never seen him play. Is he a good center fielder? Really good and ready to play center for the Twins? Or will we be talking about finding someone to back up Buxton after he arrives?
  4. One other point, jm. Martin is a youngish player, experience wise. Add to that the fact that the Twins were playing him all over the place, it felt to me he was flat out overwhelmed with the entire first trip to the 'show.' Could be a totally different player in 2025. Will he?
  5. True. But that is what makes the trade, Berrios for SWR, a good one as SWR is much younger and has many more years at affordable salaries.
  6. Always enjoy reading your articles, Nick. Thanks. As far as the state of the Twins is concerned, count me among those who believe the team is in a good place heading into spring training. My only wish is that those March games begin soon and a lot of them are on tv?
  7. Interesting. I would think/hope the Twins watch a kid who is signed/drafted as a shortstop for a year or so at that position, exclusively. If he looks like he could be a special defensive shortstop, I would hope they keep him there full time. If he is suspect defensively, then it would make sense to begin moving him around to see if he can find another defensive home. If he fails to find one, then working on various positions makes sense. Whether or not they are doing this, I don't have a clue.
  8. Love this kid. Also, believe that Lee, Lewis and Keaschall will be huge for the Twins for many years. Biggest question is who's on first, second, etc? My question is can any of them play shortstop? Well?
  9. Canterino comes up in May, Prielipp in July. LOve it. Still believe Prielipp is a future starter, but this is a great idea in 2025.
  10. Have been waiting for this report, thanks. At first glance, seems this class is larger than most? Is that true? Also seems to have more pitchers than I recall from past years. Considering I can't remember the last Twins pitcher who was an International signee, that they signed, the number of pitchers is encouraging. Also fantastic seeing three catchers. Could the Twins find a diamond in this group? Sure would be nice. Also expect Papa Leon is the happiest man in the entire Twins organization. Congrats to him.
  11. Good question, Nick. But like a few of the above, I expect he still shops at Dior. So all is not bad in his world. And unlike many, I believe the Twins have a roster that can compete in the Central and beyond. Will they is another question? And the answer will in large part be determined by the health of so many. Should Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Stewart, Topa, Duran, Paddack and a few others play most of the season, the Twins can be good. Very good! Sure, the Twins could tinker around the edges and strengthen a few positions. But I don't see them needing all that much. Kind of like when many were concerned that the Wild didn't do much last summer. And that turned out very well if they can get a couple of their stars off the injured list.
  12. Off topic, Seth. But I read in today's Strib something about the International signings. Seems the Twins, and others, may have benefited from the Dodgers and a few others waiting for the Japanese pitcher. Sounds like the Twins did maybe the best since that year they got the big 3 what was it, fifteen or maybe twenty years ago? Will you be doing a complete report?
  13. Interesting. Want to get back to Paddack and my belief that the time to trade him is not now. First, let him pitch half a season to confirm he is the quality pitcher the Twins traded for. Second, keeping him until the break allows the Twins to confirm that 1) SWR is the pitcher we saw last summer, and 2) Festa and or Matthews are solid big league starters, or 3) One of more of the younger guys makes it all the way to the Twins and proves he can pitch at a big league level. Assuming the answers to two are positive, then you look at trades for Paddack this summer. Should he be pitching well, the Twins just might get a nice return. Maybe that young catcher or first baseman?
  14. Most of us are excited about Jenkins, who I understand is ranked first or second in all of baseball. Would be great to see an article of how previous highly ranked prospects have done. Say a look at where the top 3 or 5 from the past ten years are now and what they have done. Are there any/many busts from the top 3? How many all-stars? If there are few or no busts, then we have reason to really get excited.
  15. Love this exercise, Nick. Thanks! Will agree with those who believe Buxton must be on this list somewhere. If he is healthy and plays, say 125 games, he is the one player capable of taking the Twins to the promised land. And he is under contract for several years with a contract that doesn't break the bank. It wasn't that long ago that I can recall most Twins fans praying for a top of the rotation starter. They haven't had one since the days of Radke and Santana. And now they have three. FANTASTIC! Go Twins.
  16. The Twins don't need to trade Paddach. Rather a smart move might be to trade Castro. One, Castro has value and should generate the return of something meaningful to the Twins. Certainly more than Paddach at this time. And two, if that return is a younger player he should reduce payroll by $5M or so. Granted it was awhile ago, but Paddach was a very good pitcher. Another year removed from his injuries and he just might be good again. And if he is, he is still relatively young. The smart move for the Twins is to roll the dice and see how he does the first half of the season. If he does well, they just might get a good return as the trading deadline approaches while also saving a third of his salary. Trading Castro also doesn't have a major effect on the team the Twins field as they have several younger, cheaper players who are likely to produce the same as can be expected from Willie. Kiersey, Martin and Helman should be solid both at the plate and in the field. It is probable that one of the three will be Castro's equal in 2025. And Kearschall just might be a future star who can play both on the dirt and in the outfield. With this said, I will probably read in tomorrow's Strib that Paddach was traded this evening.
  17. Interesting and certainly can be differing opinions. Personally, I like Larnach a lot and believe that had he not dealt with his foot injury much of the year his numbers would have been even better. Also agree with others that Matthews may be higher than he should. But where do you put a kid with his ride the last year or so? After all, its your list Nick and I for one will just sit back and enjoy the read, thanks.
  18. Interesting, Nick. Always enjoy this annual exercise. Found it interesting that you did not show Julien as 2B-1B. Really believe that if his future is longer than very short with the Twins, much of it will be as a first baseman. Just too many better prospects here or arriving that play second. Was shocked with the results SWR had last summer. Totally unexpected, at least for me. I will need another season to be convinced what we saw will be long term. Really hope it is, BUT?
  19. The kid was young with limited experience. So he didn't set the world on fire in his partial rookie season. The result, most commenters have assigned him to the junk pile. I see a kid with a ton of ability, just not the type y'all would like to see. Given a year or two to mature and I believe we will see a valuable big league player. Just not your typical power guy.
  20. Like the list, Cody. Thanks. Of the three, the one who excites me the most is Winokur. When combining his physical assets with his baseball strengths you get a player who could be special. Very special. Will agree with those above who believe Prielipp should be on this list. I continue to believe he can put his injury history behind him, beginning this year. When he does, he will soon be the #1 pitching prospect in the organization. Although he may no longer be a prospect a year from now, I continue being excited about Canterino. We all have seen how fantastic he can be, albeit in only short spurts every year or so. I am surprised the Twins continue keeping him on the 40-man. Because they have tells me they believe he will both be healthy in 2025 and they view him as someone who can be successful for the big league club. I expect, however, because of his limited innings the past few years he will be in the Twins pen come summer.
  21. Have always liked McCann, so this would be interesting. Must question your comment, however, that signing him for $4M would give them financial flexibility. As I understand, trading Vazquez and signing McCann would bring their budget into balance. So they would still need to move Paddack to find some dollars to fill another need.
  22. Interesting. I continue to dread the possibility, or is it liklihood, of seeing Moran in a Red Sox uniform at this summer's All-Star game.
  23. Way to little known by us about Julien's D. If he could be average, and the Twins have a strong belief that he will, I would go with Eddie and Miranda platooning. Gotta believe that if Miranda spends three-quarters if spring training working at first he will be at least serviceable. With this duo the defense could be average, at best. If both puts their sophomore year struggles behind them, their bats could be between good and very good...or not.
  24. I always enjoy reading pieces like this as they usually bring a smile. And that's good as there aren't a lot of those of late. I wasn't expecting much from SWR as the Twins season began. Turns out he did a heck of a lot better than I expected. Don't have a clue what that means for the future, but I suspect he will be in the hunt for the #4 or #5 slot with three others, Paddack, Festa and Matthews. Hopefully, at least three of them have very good years in 2025. Will one of those be SWR?
  25. Interesting seeing Raley on that list. Do you remember, Seth, that unbelievable season he had at Rochester back whenever? Or was it a part of a season? When I think about how good Jax and Ober were, gotta feel they got shortchanged. They had to be every bit as good as several of those guys around $1M.
