  1. Why? Odorizzi usually doesn’t.
  2. Maybe Profar stole a base because he didn’t appreciate getting hit. Possible?
  3. Batting titles are really not that important. Plenty of catchers have won MVPs. They aren’t all in the HOF.
  4. BCE is doubly descriptive of today’s starting pitcher for the Rangers. It would be the initials to explain his phenomenon, eg the Bartolo Colon Experience. And, would also describe his birthdate: Before the Common Era...
  5. Until tonight. The ultimate example of SSS.
  6. If the Twins trade Lynn and Santana that would presumably put Romero back in the rotation, would it not? Sure, there’s Mejia and Slegers. But it’s also pretty likely neither of those two would stick until the end of the season.
  7. I understand that. What I am saying is that other than helping with his stamina down the stretch last year (if he was on them at the time), it shouldn’t have provided that much of an edge. He’s got a .740 career ops. That sounds about in line with my hopes. What I have always liked about him is the 1 K per 7 or so PA.
  8. Polanco isn’t some hulking homerun hitter. He has a contact, line drive approach to pitchers. Sure PED’s would help his stamina, but given that he will only play 70-75 games at the MLB level this year, that really shouldn’t be an issue. Could be by the time June or July rolls around next year, but who knows what the roster will look like. There might be sufficient depth to provide enough off days for Polanco and others who need a break.
  9. Rogers and Hildenberger should both have options. But, of course Hildenberger might be Molitor’s # 1 option right now. Probably don’t want to lose him for 10 days. Probably don’t want Duke as the only loogy for 10 days either.
  10. Well, it won’t be Slegers who started tonight and most likely not Curtiss who threw 29 pitches yesterday.
  11. Or, it would incentivize pitchers to throw strikes more frequently, leading to more contact and a faster game pace.
  12. Does Magill have an option? It makes zero sense to keep him active when he may not be available until Wednesday.
  13. I would hope Belisle would be replaced by a position player. Maybe Granite until Buxton is ready. Or Petit, so the roster has more than one back up infielder.
  14. That’s really not unusual at AAA. AAA is for MLB replacements. Genuine prospects usually don’t spend much time there on the way up. Therefore, you wouldn’t expect to see more than 3 or maybe 4 prospects in AAA. It just so happens that most of the Twins prospects at AAA are pitchers: Gonsalves, Littell and Moya being the others in addition to Gordon and the borderline Wade. There are others there who may or may not come up and be able to help. But I generally stop calling someone a prospect if they are over 25. Like Bard, Busenitz, Slegers, et al.
  15. Of course the joke from 1988. Do you know what the Twins need? Les(s) Straker...
  16. Kepler went oppo. Could be a good sign. If he learns to use all fields with authority, the shifts go away and it will hopefully allow his BABIP to normalize.
  17. Minor really had to battle through the middle of the Twins order there...
  18. If Escobar isn’t ready to play by tomorrow, the Twins may need to DL him. Oh, wait. They don’t have any infielders to bring up anyway.
  19. I think I may have had a change of heart. Not regarding 2018. I still think too much underperformance and non-performance to be a genuine contender. Beyond might be a different scenario. I’m far from convinced that Sano and/or Buxton will ever be 5 bWAR or higher players consistently. However, they might. I guess I’ve decided it makes sense to be ready if they do get their acts together in the next couple years. Realmuto by himself (even with a fully functional Sano and Buxton) won’t put the Twins ahead of the elite AL teams. The Twins need to use their surplus cash and make a bid for the best starting pitcher available this offseason. No, I don’t have any idea who that might be. A right handed power bat would be a help as well. I guess I just came to the conclusion in the worst case scenario (Sano and Buxton both completely bust), you can always flip Realmuto in a couple years and rebuild again.
  20. Isn’t that reverse logic? Bring a guy into a game with runners on that allows a lot of baserunners? IMO Rodney needs to be left alone to do whatever it is he does in the 9th. Asking him to do more, at his age, is asking for trouble.
  21. If the reason the Twins aren’t calling up Busenitz, etc is because Molitor has told Falvine he won’t use them in anything but low leverage, then that responsibility needs to be taken from him.
  22. Red Sox all time record: 9459-8801, .518% If you mean the Senators/Twins, it is 8756-9495, .480 W-L%. Per baseball reference.
  23. Pretty sure I remember seeing Morris’ suit in 1991...
