  1. Whew, that's a load off.
  2. I wonder if Walker Jenkins will be invited to camp.
  3. i meant stats closer to the mean, something less than 150 OPS+.
  4. Pedro Ramos wasn't a bad pitcher even though his 20 losses in '61 was the 4th straight year leading the league in losses. The Cuban Cowboy generally gave up a lot of hits (kind of like a right-handed version of Jim Kaat) with more than a few leaving the park (some called him the Cuban Gopher Baller) and the Twins sent him to Cleveland for Vic Power and Dick Stigman. Pedro served up the pitch that Mickey Mantle hit to the moon in '56, and later pitched in relief for the Yankees, helping them overcome the White Sox and Orioles in a very tight race to secure the pennant in '64. He was acquired by the yankees in early September and pitched in 13 games, getting 8 saves while striking out 21 in 22 innings and walking no one. I guess he was quite fast afoot and was used as a pinch runner many times. He also hit 15 homers in his career. I think the trade to Cleveland was more about acquiring Power then getting rid of Ramos. The Twins had an up-coming star named Tony Oliva and Power as a fellow Cuban helped Tony in his adjustment to being in America and the major leagues.
  5. I think Royce Lewis pretty much blew us away in 2023. His stats will probably be more "normalized" next year, but what a great player to watch and root for. Stay healthy man!
  6. No Pedro Ramos to kick around and solidified the infield play adding Vic Power, Bernie Allen and Rich Rollins to team with Zoilo.
  7. I was thinking Lewis-3B, Correa-SS, Lee-2B. Then where does Eddie Julien play? Will Alex Kirilloff be healthy enough to be considered a full time firstbaseman? I'd almost rather have Julien at 1B.
  8. This is a little off topic but since Eddie Julien's name came up here, who would you rather have as your full time first baseman, Julien or Alex Kirilloff?
  9. Shoulder injuries can really suck as they can mess with your sleep too, as probably a lot of injuries can i guess. Hope he has a quick recovery and get ready for a great season in 2024. Go Twins. Another thing. If a guy is that "injured" and you have to treat him that delicately, why is he even playing? Wouldn't a healthy replacement be a better option?
  10. that he is Bouncing Byron Buxton 😀
  11. It was a good ride. Thank you guys. And we broke the drought.
  12. 2 Funderburks in MLB history; exclusive property of the Minnesota Twins. 🙂
  13. Learning to win down on the farm. I can dig it. Congrats to the Kernels, the cream of the crop.
  14. If a pitcher's arm ever came off during a game, I'd venture he went to college at Rice.
  15. That dress up day pic looks like the cast from a legos movie or something, pretty awesome.
  16. Heck, when I was in high school you got in trouble if you were caught out in the hall during class time without a pass.
  17. Lew Ford had the highest WAR (+4.5) of all Twins positional players in 2004. My brain is still trying to wrap itself around this one.
  18. Yeah, it's Francona. He's like the MacGyver of Baseball. Give him a couple of pitchers, a couple of hitters, some baling wire and glue and he'll put together a competitive team.
  19. So, we took 2 out of 3 in Texas, that is a winning weekend in my book.
