    Byron's abilities might be the same, but I don't think his confidence is which hampers his performance on difficult plays. Pretty normal for a guy who has had serious run-ins with the wall out there.

    I find it interesting that the most similar hitter listed over at BBref is Greg Byrd, the guy Mike Ford was competing with for 1B reps with the Yankees. I have to admit I don't understand the budget freeze if you're going to sell the team. What difference does a few million make when you stand to sell the team for over $1 Billion?

    The Twins should just call up and install Aaron Sabato at first base. Now, we all know he'll probably set the all-time strikeout record, but thats the point. The fans could cheer every strikeout as the count down to immortality glows on the scoreboard. Gotta find ways to enjoy your baseball.

    I commented on this in a different thread and received about the same response as Vanimal46 gave above. Not saying Vanimal is necessarily wrong, but the Twins would be desperately foolish to not pursue Mr. Sasaki's services. Acquiring his talents would already make the off season a success, no matter the teams sale outcome and all.

    Japan's best pitcher Roki Sasaki has been posted and is available to MLB teams. He's only 23 years old witch makes him an Amateur Free Agent by MLB rules and can only sign a minor league contract limited to a teams bonus pool. If I understand it correctly. I guess that means a signing in the $5 to $10 million range with another 20% going to the Chiba Lotte marines as a posting fee. Sasaki would then be like any player "called up" to the major league roster and have the 6-year Team control window with 3 years before the arbitration process can begin. I'm not sure what criteria Sasaki will use when choosing a team, but signing him will provide elite pitching at a minimum cost for 3 years and I think even the Twins can afford that. And if they are going to sell the team, Sasaki would provide great value as a salable asset. Will the Twins even pursue signing him?

    After KC beating the Astros (from AP): Second baseman Michael Massey, who led off the game with a double and scored on a single by Vinnie Pasquantino, said the front office bringing in experienced veterans with playoff experience like Tommy Pham, Yuli Gurriel, Michael Wacha and Will Smith made this possible. “They’ve been there before, they’ve done it, so I think it’s helped a lot of guys,” Massey said. “It’s helped us, for sure me, to be around those guys and just watch them, more than anything, and see how they go about their business, has been — I think that’s helped us stay even keel.”

    Meanwhile both the Tigers and Royals today accomplished more by winning their respective play off series than the Twins have since 2002.

    This team ran out of gas a month ago. We all knew it, and save some miracle, this is the way we expected it to end. We hoped they would find a way to get into the post season, but they didn't. Like a car battery placed on concrete, the life slowly drains away until there's nothing left. Thats what this feels like to me.
