  1. 19 million a year for a 1-inning-at-a-time relief pitcher . . . wow. Hader is a great closer, but for 55 innings a year, 19 million?
  2. As we look at replacing the performance of Sonny Gray, and as well as he pitched, I find it interesting that the team only went 14-18 in his 32 games started. The Twins winning pct last year was .537, so an average Twins pitching performance should have got them 17 wins. Doesn't look that hard to replace in that light.
  3. May 18, 1969. Versus Detroit and Mickey Lolich, In the 3rd inning, Tovar walked and was balked to 2nd and Carew walked, from there they stole their way around the bases to score 2 runs to tie the game, all with Harmon Killebrew at the plate. I guess they figured Harmon wouldn't be able to drive them in 😁. Harmon then struck out. It would be the only 2 runs they scored that day as they lost 8-2.
  4. Dave McCarty actually had a higher pitching WAR than he did hitting. You can look it up.
  5. Charlie Manuel went to play in Japan and from age 32-37 pounded Japanese pitchers to a .303/.385/.604/.988 (AVE/OBA/SLG/OPS) stat line. At age 36 he batted .325 with 48 homers and knocked in 125 for the Kintetsu Buffaloes. The Twins sure could have used some of that pop in the early 70's if Charlie could have figured out major league pitching like he did in Japan. He is also the Philles all-time winningest manager. See ya behind the batting cage Charlie.
  6. I think the TV revenue limbo the Twins are in make it hard to fill out the future player salary projection spreadsheets.
  7. If I was going to acquire a starter from Seattle, I'd try to trade for Emerson Hancock.
  8. Best looking prospect to come along in a long time. Here's to hoping he stays healthy and sticks to his work ethic.
  9. December 10, 1969: Graig Nettles traded by the Minnesota Twins with Dean Chance, Bob Miller and Ted Uhlaender to the Cleveland Guardians for Luis Tiant and Stan Williams. If Rich Reese would not have had his miracle 1969 year hitting .322, would the Twins have made this terrible trade?
  10. Just another fan enjoying the Twins off-season.
  11. You have to really be able to get after it if you want to win it all. 😀
  12. Fundy looked pretty comfortable in a Twins uniform. I kind of kept waiting for him to get lit up at some point but he just kept mowing them down. Looking forward to him having a successful 2024.
  13. Twins games on Prime would be awesome.
  14. I've got nothing but respect for a hard working man.
  15. Wow, $70 mil a year, makes Aaron Judge look cheap.
  16. Ohtani Shmotani. Now for some real news. The Rays acquire Jake Mangum as the player to be named later from an earlier trade. Whoah, didn't see THAT coming.
  17. Actually, this Ohtani secret free agency trip is a drag. Could have been a lot of fun for baseball fans.
  18. Giants upping the ante.
