  1. Kinda mind blowing considering the last couple of years.
  2. Jim Kaat was 34 when the Twins released him and Rod Carew was 32 when traded to the Angels, not exactly in their prime. Blyleven was traded after refusing to sign his contract. Heck, even the fans booed him in his last start as a Twin. I don't think they were driven out.
  3. Yeah so far I think Shelty has done a good job. Nothing really stands out but I like that he is giving the starting pitchers some length, but that just might be to protect a suspect bullpen. The last 2 years we started 6-10 and 5-11 after 16 games so this year feels a whole lot better. And I like that we have been scoring early in games and pounding some left-handed starters. Taking a series in Toronto feels especially good as usually we have a hard time with them. Go Twins.
  4. Welcome to the big leagues Andrew Morris. Nice inning.
  5. I think Clemens ought to limit his swings to strikes.
  6. Bradley not so sharp this game but limits the damage and holds them to one run allowed. 106 pitches today, definitely been a workhorse so far this season.
  7. I think Toronto was using metal-core baseballs and have a powerful magnet under the center of home plate that they turn on when the visiting team is on the mound drawing pitches to the center of the plate . . . probably.
  8. Framber Valdez throwing change-ups harder than Ober's fastball.
  9. I'm gonna have to get a new research assistant.
  10. 3 innings complete, only 2 pitches faster than 88 mph by Ober.
  11. Halsey Hall had the boys and girls in an uproar.
  12. I'm not sure if this is correct but I looked it up, the last time the Twins scored 6 runs in the first inning was July 18, 1962 vs the Cleveland Indians.
  13. I really liked Austin Martin's at bat in the 5th inning after Buxton's walk. Never swung the bat and after being down with a 1-2 count he didn't get suckered and let Skubal walk him on 6 pitches. Seeing the Twins take swings to put the ball in play was refreshing and they were rewarded handsomely with 4 runs. Taj Bradley impressive again, looked like he could go all night. Last play of the game why didn't Brooks Lee take the easy out at 2B instead of throwing to 1B? Maybe a bunt-bat to the mouth will do that. Any time you can beat Tarik Skubal is a good day on the diamond.
  14. Maybe we can call it The Flex Bullpen like the old Dallas Cowboy Flex Defense, bend but don't break.
  15. Actually Outman's batting average is a robust .000. And he hasn't even looked that good.
  16. I'm surprised with his height and leverage that he doesn't throw harder. Makes me wonder what kind of velocity he could develop with an over-the-top let-it-fly delivery. That could be pretty intimidating for a batter.
  17. I was convinced this was going to be the plan this off season, but then they held, kept Outman, signed Larnach and Caratini and a clown car of dubious relievers. I wonder if Falvey would have been let go if he had torn it down.
  18. One place I worked had such a bad performance/job loss ratio we handed out "Salesman of the Minute" awards.
