IMHO another sell-off does make sense—and always did—but especially now with the offense starting to bottom out. I guess we’ll start by ripping the bandaid off: Ryan — will presumably return something better than Duran (and had better be much better than berrios). Roster spot to Klein ROS (paredes/klein work spot in rotation) ober — won’t be a great return but hopefully something better than the paddack deal. Roster spot to prielipp rogers — bag of balls is fine. Roster spot to acton nance — be nice to at least get back what we gave up but won’t hold my breath. Roster spot to sands bell — a guy can dream of another Cruz/ryan trade… move bux to dh (roster spot to wallner—see below) kreidler — a return of something akin to the Castro trade?! Call up Culpepper to get ready for ‘27 Larnach — I personally would like to keep him but understand the logjam in OF and that our “prospects” in the OF likely won’t give us the type of return we need to make a run (assuming Jenkins is untouchable). Crossing fingers for a solid return. Call wallner back up and give him the rest of the season to make or break Emmanuel Rodriguez + a couple top 30-ish pitchers (Barr and Olivares?) for one of the higher end controllable relievers. We’ll need them next year anyway and this helps clear out some of the OF mess finally, I really hate to say it but Jeffers :( as we are unlikely to extend him and there already seems to be the makings of a bidding war. Replace with Gonzalez or Mendez rest of ‘26 looks like: SP - taj, zebby, Rojas, paredes/klein, prielipp RP - [acquired reliever], Gomez, morris, funderburk, sands, acton, Adams, raya DH - bux 1B - lewis 2B - clemens SS - culpepper 3B - lee C - caratini/jackson RF - wallner CF - keaschall/martin LF - roden/gonzalez (or Mendez) looking ahead to ‘27, it could maybe look like: SP - Pablo, taj, Abel, festa, rojas RP - [acquired reliever], Gomez, morris, prielipp, sands, zebby, Adams, raya DH - Clemens 1B - lewis 2B - keaschall SS - culpepper/houston(?) 3B - lee C - caratini/jackson RF - Jenkins CF - bux/martin LF - roden/gonzalez (or Mendez) of course, a lot could happen between now and then but a fun exercise for me anyway! :)

So did the twins show their trade deadline hand by drafting nothing but pitchers and catchers? A bunch of outgoing pitching prospects for bullpen and/or starter arms? Jeffers not staying long (if he even makes it beyond the trade deadline)?

I see a lot of people quick to point to julien’s hot rookie season and steep drop off, but did everyone forget that he hit .310 this past September? I may have a tendency to get too attached to guys and want to hold onto them too long, but wasn’t there cause for renewed optimism?

Preach SD Buhr! To build on all that, the geniuses in the FO should also be able to evaluate talent not currently on the market—those that could be acquired by {gasp!} trading some of our “can’t miss” prospects. They should be able to evaluate our home grown talent well enough to know which are over-valued by outsiders and use them to acquire actual/established talent. Put an actual team together, not an organization made up entirely of lotto tickets. That means an appropriate mix of prospects, vets, trades, quality FAs, and even the occasional dumpster dive

Article: Twins Sign Left-Handed Pitcher Martin Perez

Dumb. Better than granite or the angels dude. Thumbs up -
Dumb. I agree with others who say granite should’ve been DFA’d. Arms are better than......uh.....Mendoza liners. I guess that’s the upside of this guy and granite?

he probably is trying to avoid having to tell guys they won't be suiting up for the twins anymore the real question is why hasn't the fire sale continued? at this point, probably another half dozen guys that either need to or should be traded. -
C'mon Eddie, quit swinging at everything and then striking out--you are supposed to work the count full and THEN strike out. like the rest of the team

Article: Thoughts On Brian Dozier
7r4de me replied to stringer bell's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If FOs around the league like polanco half as much as TD people I say trade polanco and keep dozier. Does no one see the error in constantly chasing the almighty prospect? Guys who never live up to their potential are a dime a dozen. I see everyone saying we need to trade dozier so we can upgrade our horrendous pitching. How recently was everyone saying these same pitchers were amazing prospects? How many star prospects have we had the last several years that didn't pan out--how many currently in the system not materializing? At some point people need to gain their sanity and stop trading a bird in the hand for two in the bush. Let someone else make the mistake of thinking every single player in our farm is the next trout/kershaw. to build a championship team you need a good mix of vets and young talent. In 2 years dozier is more likely to still be good and polanco is more likely to still be learning the game (or in AAA for the 10th time, haha. That's not funny) Keep dozier please. Don't trade him for a bag of chips like some people were suggesting a couple months ago. Other random thoughts: Ugh I HATE the royals!!!! Can someone please tell me what we got for Arica?! I assume just a little cash but I can't find it anywhere! And for that matter, what we got for Jamey Carroll--that one has been haunting me for years haha! Prolly just a steak dinner... -
I don't understand what is so wrong with centeno. I don't get any twins games in nv so I can't see his defense but seems to me his offense is as good as most catchers in the league. Why can't he be an option at starter? Why can't coaches work with him on shortcomings--everyone seems to have so much patience with everyone else in the system. Murphy is garbage and everyone is like 'well should we give him more time? Could he be a serviceable backup?' Ugh. Cut him. Now. Centeno is fine. Keep him until a great solution smacks us over the head or go out and spend some money--I saw Antony's quote about money not really being a problem, so......

Article: Where Should Jorge Polanco Play?
7r4de me replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The problem of seeing what we have in guys at the ML level is that if we find out that the potentially something is really nothing, the rest of the world finds out at the same time, and then that is what we are left with. I think we should trade SOME of our prospects and actually get something- 118 replies

Article: Where Should Jorge Polanco Play?
7r4de me replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I always posts on here of people saying something to the effect of "why not call him up and let him play everyday so we can find out what we have." The part of the Twins' cycle of failure that everyone complains about is holding onto vets too long/not selling at peak value. The other part of this cycle I never see comments on is the constant reliance on the unknown--the almighty "prospect." We keep waiting on these prospects to save us (every year posts are about how great we will be in two years), but how often does a top prospect actually pan out? I agree we need better scouting/development so we know what we have before guys get to the bigs. Since the majority of prospects don't ever end up being difference makers then why not trade them for known commodities? Let's package together some of these scratchers/lotto tickets and get in the Chris Sale sweeps, or go after someone who is actually known to have big league value.- 118 replies

Trade polanco. If everyone else thinks he is going to so great then let them take the risk. I like the idea that we could be buyers right now and maybe we can get a player who is good now (who we can also control for a few years), and actually try to contend sooner rather than later (not necessarily in 2017). Package him with grossman and/or a bullpen arm and try and get someone really good. Money isn't an issue right?- 118 replies
