  1. Yeah if we went by dodger fans logic we should trade Tyler jay, gonsalves and Daniel Palka for Clayton kershaw. I mean they love prospects. I would rather do that
  2. Couldn't agree more. Prospects are risky. You could look at the top 20 every year and over half won't make it. Remember when Mike Restovich was a top 20 prospect? Happened even though they knew he couldn't hit anything besides a fastball. Well De Leon isn't even top 20 prospect and has questions about his pitch selection and his shoulder. That doesn't return someone like Dozier by themself. Has to be a nice package. Would be interesting if someone did a statistical break down of top 50 prospects (where De Leon belongs) in the past 10-15 years or so.
  3. We have a lot of pitching coming up. Gonsalves, Berrios, Jay, Stewart, Romero (similar to Alvarez) and we have the number 1 pick to use on pitching. Thing is those guys are just prospects. Could just as easily bust as De Leon with his bad shoulder and limited innings and Alvarez. Could they turn out? Sure but pure numbers say most won't. When acquiring prospects, you usually need to acquire a few to make it fair because of the safety in numbers. Even then it's not for sure they'll pan out. Twins won't trade one of the best 2B for scrubs. At that point, he is more valuable on the team. Deal needs to at least be fair. If dodgers don't want to offer a fair trade, then so be it. They can continue to look up to the other teams in the NL while they waste kershaws prime years
  4. Maybe they were only hoping to get cash from the rule 5 pick and the guys they have coming back for dozier will be on the 40 man so no harm lost if they lose whoever they took in the draft
  5. I'd rather have kept Stuart turner then get this guy
  6. I can't believe how much higher wade is than arruiz(sp?) and vielma. Have those two on top of wade
  7. With Nick Gordon being there I will be assure to attend. I was first to note Buxtons strikeout woes a couple years ago in AFL and will hopefully have good news to report on Gordon. Look for the updates. I'll try to get some video as well
  8. Unrelated but it amazes me how much depth we have now. I was re-reading the prospect handbook and saw seths top 30. I realize hindsight is 20-20 but some of those lists a few years back were downright ugly. Those that made the top 5 probably wouldn't be top 10 or top 15 now
  9. Excessive? Isn't 100 still usually the norm pitchers get to? Thought it use to be 110. 90-100 is standard. If he's rolling, give him the complete game. Can't baby them in minors and expect them to deliver in big leagues
  10. Agree. I think the top prospects ratings could be interesting at the end of the year and significantly different than mid season. If berrios and Polanco are off the prospect lists I could see the year end rankings looking something like this: 1. Gonsalves 2. Kirriloff 3. Gordon 4. Jay 5. Stewart 6. Mejia 7. F. Romero 8. Palka 9. Chargois 10. vielma. Once you get past the top 5-6 though I feel like there's a lot of interchangeable people.
  11. If trade Kurt Suzuki to Dodgers for RHP Chase de Jong, RHP Jacob rhame, and C Keibert Ruiz
  12. In my opinion, Dozier and Polanco is exclusive from the Vielma decision. Both are 2B. Polanco could potentially play 3B too but he is a 2B. Vielma is a SS prospect. And I wouldn't pigeonhole him as a defensive player. He can hit. 22 y/o and .280 in AA. Thats plenty. He isn't going to hit for power, thats not the type of guy he is, but there is no doubt in my mind he could hit .240- .250 and play good defense in the majors right now. That has organizational depth value and no doubt he could be stashed on a team for a year. Assuming Gordon progresses as we think he will, I think Vielma will be a necessary depth player and have great trade value when the time comes to package. And I wouldn't to lose Vielma before we see more with Gordon's development.
  13. I'm flabbergasted that people don't have Vielma as a lock. There's no doubt he would stick for a year. His bat is okay... But his glove is MLB ready. He will be in the majors by this time next year if not earlier
  14. Is McGuff going above GCL? He's 22 and putting up stupid numbers there. Should've been at elizabethtown
  15. Can't edit my post but I'd leave off Harrison of my tough choice. I wouldn't add him to tough choice unless he has a hell of a 2nd half
  16. I could see 8 maybe 9 spots opening up. Locks are Jorge, Palka, Vielma, Romero and Garver. Heavy consideration (most likely adds): Granite, Wheeler and Slegers. Tough choice: Thorpe and Harrison. Here are the people I see coming off the 40 man: 2 of (Vargas, dozier, Escobar, Nunez, Plouffe), Suzuki, 1 of (grossman, Santana or walker), 1 of (Santana or nolasco), 4 other pitchers (abad, booshers, Meyer, melotakis, Milone, Ramirez)
  17. Kenny Vargas executed a pretty swinging bunt today as well
  18. I think Dozier is reestablishing his trade value
  19. It's nice having Dozier but I'm a firm believer that he is a stop-gap type talent. And whoever we put at SS is the same way. We have a lot of nice pieces in the minor leagues in MIF between Gordon, Vielma, Polanco, Arraez and further out Wander Javier. Cant speak for the rest but everything I've seen points in the positive direction for both Gordon and Vielma. Both seem like very humble kids that will put in the work to reach their dream. Polanco seems ready, and honestly would probably be a better fit for the team than Dozier is. I really hope we can unload Dozier at the trade deadline (though I said that last year when he was considered an all-star)
  20. Was curious what the record was for stolen bases in that league. It's pretty stiff competition down there and I only went back a few years. 2015: Randy Ventura (Braves) had 55 SB in 58 games. 2014: Gabriel Meija (Indians) had 72 SB in 70 games (and caught 20 times)
  21. In the DSL SS Agustin Marte (Age 17) stole 2 bases. He now has 9 stolen bases in 13 games.
  22. Marte has 9 stolen bases on the year... (He's played in 13 games so far). Had to do a double take.
  23. I really think we got a sleeper with the HS C - Kidany Salva. Glad we got him on board, didn't think we would.
  24. 17 strikeouts through 8. But they managed 2 home runs last inning and take the lead
  25. Elizabeth Twins have struck out 16 times through 7. Pretty impressed.
