  1. I'd bet a lot of the same skills used to put together an oil derrick would apply to building a wind turbine.
  2. Thanks for reading TD and thanks for valid concern. As Cody implied in the thread, there was no malicious intent though I understand the inference due to the word 'worst' being in the title. As Chitown said this is being discussed with ownership
  3. That's why the Twins can't settle for just one quality starting pitching prospect. The odds that De Leon is that franchise changing arm are slim, they need to hedge their bets and get more.
  4. Well that's probably because everyone in the Rangers front office has no clue what they're doing. Oh, wait......
  5. Well these posts are a bit related then as Rosenthal tweeted that the Nationals only targeted Adam Eaton after the Rangers were demanding Joe Ross in exchange for Profar. I can't link Twitter from work, but here's the MLBTR write up: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/trade-chatter-colome-mariners-wilson-profar.html I'd think Ross would be as valuable if not more valuable than De Leon currently at least in the eyes of a GM due to his MLB success. So either Rosenthal is off base (which is possible) or the price for Profar isn't going to be markedly different than Dozier. To be fair to the Rangers, no one wants to sell low on their once promising prospects. I'd be upset if the Twins did that with Buxton.
  6. Ugh, not helping. Shouldn't they at least ask the police officers how they voted first?
  7. I think the issue with Forsythe is twofold. The Rays probably don't feel they are outside of contention, because of this, and likely because they wouldn't feel that Forsythe is materially inferior to Dozier, they'd likely be asking for a similarly valued return.
  8. ****Moderator Note***** The sensitivity of the title aside, we still need to stay on topic. For the time being, please let's just discuss the player. For those that don't like the theme, I understand, but simply refraining from posting and or reading the articles is the best option. If anyone would like to discuss the issue further, please start a thread in the Questions about Minncentric. We can certainly discuss this issue and try to work through any problems. http://twinsdaily.com/forum/13-questions-about-minncentric/
  9. Your argument was that they lost talent, not that the players declined, but even so, there is absolutely no reason to think that those players that declined in 2016 wouldn't bounce back to 2015 numbers if not better. The idea of a Sophomore Slump has been around for a long time.
  10. I can't play the link, it's probably blocked by my work computer. Were there any other details? Because Kalil never looked like he enjoyed playing here. I could see him turning down the Vikings just to get away. Which might be best for the long run. While he may be the best LT on the market, he's still not a very good LT and re-signing him would basically be committing to him for several more years.
  11. Yes, I think we all need some right about now, do share.
  12. I don't know, it seems that way now but if memory serves I was pretty eager to see naked women back when I was a kid, Chewbacca or not.
  13. The talent the Twins lost after 2015 was basically 40-year-old Torii Hunter, Aaron Hicks, Jordan Schaffer, Mike Pelfrey, Blain Boyer, Aaron Thompson and Tim Stauffer. That sounds like a net positive to me.
  14. Yeah, Davis and Trumbo are the same player. Just like Reggie Jackson and Dave Kingman were the same player. Good lord, talk about looking at empty HR numbers. People didn't even need Bill James back then to tell them that not all HR are created equally.
  15. I beg to differ, the Twins are going to beat the Royals on opening day. 1-0 baby! I agree that there isn't any reason not to expect improvement from those players listed. Even without that, the Twins are going to have a pretty easy schedule if KC, CHW and DET aren't any good. KC and CHW aren't and I'm predicting (for about the 5th year in a row) that DET is going to finally implode.
  16. Plenty of teams don't have the talent to be within shouting distance of .500 yet somehow find themselves in that situation by the end of the year. See Twins: 2015.
  17. I don't know that they're being greedy. If we as Twins fans were in the same position we would want them to give up as little as possible also. I'm glad the Twins are demanding more, but it's not like we are very cavalier with giving away our prospects either. It's January, I don't fault either team for drawing this out hoping something will trigger a more favorable deal; we have another two months if not longer before anyone from either side would even need to consider panicking.
  18. I would have liked Feliz also, but for all we know, he didn't want to come here. I don't know what would be the difference between Minneapolis and Milwaukee, but no one really knows what is going on and in a lot of these situations that are making us jealous, I don't think the Twins can just throw money at the guy and expect him to come. Guys like Feliz, Tyson Ross, or Greg Holland are likely looking for a bounceback contract, so they wouldn't be looking at any make-good offers thrown at them in 2017 with wide eyes and drool. They are probably much more concerned with finding a place where they can succeed and get their big payday next year. As for Casilla, he doesn't have to move; he's just playing across the Bay. The Twins couldn't match that offer if they wanted to.
  19. Yeah, and I'm an advocate for societal change and evolutoin. However for some reason I have the hardest time dealing with change in decorum of language and journalism. I don't like how casual it has become, but if that's how it's going to be from here on out, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and go along with it.
  20. So the ballots were transparent this year correct? I'm just wondering if the one vote each for Veritek and Wakefield came from the same Boston beat writer or something.
  21. ******Moderator Note********* This thread is starting to get personal again. Let's stay on topic, which is a hypothetical and increasingly unlikely trade of Brian Dozier, and stay away from debates such as who can define the definition of "value" the best.
  22. Who in baseball thought Kyle Hendricks would be a #2 type pitcher last year let alone three winters ago?
  23. Right, but if those are going to be bad teams, each of those records could be flipped. And I'm not even trying to say it would make the Twins a good team, just that the record of a bad team is likely quite unpredictable as unpredictability and inconsistency is a hallmark of a bad team.
  24. http://m.startribune.com/twins-manager-molitor-would-like-to-add-another-veteran/410968995/ Per La Velle, Molitor is campaigning for a veteran presence in the clubhouse. La Velle rightfully suggests it likely would have to be an outfielder. He name drops my horse in the race, Ryan Rayburn. But most importantly, and really the only reason I'm posting this is due to this excerpt: --We'll see if Falvine can come up with a player or two for Molitor before camp opens.-- Falvine? As in Falvey and Lavine? Seriously, are we really doing this? In the spots section of a major market newspaper no less.
  25. Sheffield will be a reliever if he makes it at all. That doesn't do much for me, I'd need another starting prospect and likely other reasonable talent. Frankly though, I'm OK walking away from De Leon at this point. I'd rather have Alvarez and Stewart than De Leon by himself and no other decent starters.
