  1. They going to play this game under protest? The umps totally got that call wrong. Said from the non-rules expert.
  2. I still think Sano has promise, but I’d be open to trading him. Not until the off season though, like him or not, he’s still good depth AND is at a low trade value point.
  3. Ah, I feel for Poppen, he looked pretty dejected.
  4. There’s probably no one in the pen who can go multiple innings tonight aside from Poppen, Reed’s not a multi inning guy as far as I can tell. I still want to see Staskak though. He’s averaging nearly 2 innings an outing.
  5. Well I mean, husky players have a pretty strong track record with this team.
  6. 1700 IP is a lot, but he still looks decent. My point was only that I trust talent, not experience.
  7. I'll never see anyone as a guaranteed upgrade, which is probably why I don't view current or past counting stats as a great indicator of continued success for a pitcher moving teams and why I'd prefer to use some of the peripheral and anecdotal evidence to figure out if the guy will be good upon a move here. These guys are uprooting themselves and perhaps their family, going to a new city, a new stadium, a new climate with new teammates and new coaches, sometimes against their will unbeknownst to the fans, sometimes to their excitement but almost always burdened with high expectations. I'm wholly in favor of multiple trades for the pen, but big names aren't going to give me a ton more confidence than under-the-radar names simply because how many psychological human factors are at play.
  8. From my perspective experience just translates to getting old. It doesn't carry a ton of weight with me.
  9. I'd absolutely take him for depth, but I wouldn't be counting on him slotting anywhere higher than 4th in the rotation. I'm not a fan of guys coming over from the NL and I'm not a fan of guys with that much mileage on their arms. But, a deal for such a big name, even if he's past his prime, would surely give the clubhouse a booster shot of morale. They may not need one, but extra morale isn't on the banned substance list last I checked so it wouldn't hurt. Also, it would make vanimal extra happy if anyone feels like throwing him a bone.
  10. I'm OK removing Moya, Vasquez, Hildenberger and Smeltzer any time. I doubt any of them get claimed, but if they do I wouldn't lose much sleep. Eades doesn't do a whole lot for me either and we're going to have a Mejia problem any minute now.
  11. If you'd read each and every post, you'd have seen that the research had already been done and the thread was second longest only to the 2017 playoff gamethread. Intel courtesy of Snepp? twinsnorth? diehard? I can't remember, it was super late. But that was a dozen pages ago probably.
  12. Not just the Twins. I love starters turned relievers, the Twins should be targeting these guys from other clubs. Some were only perceived to only have iffy stuff or control at best, some were busted prospects, some were forced into the role, but just some of the guys who came up as starters or were starters in the minors just prior to their call up: Josh Hader, Brad Hand, Will Smith, Raisel Iglesias, Edwin Diaz, Zach Britton, Blake Treinen, Hansel Robles, Felipe Vazquez, Roberto Osuna, Andrew Miller, Delin Betances, Wade Davis, Ian Kennedy, John Gant, Trevor Rosenthal, Jake MaGee, Jeurys Familia, Alex Colome. The Twins should never be letting a guy like Liam Hendricks out of the building before seeing what he has out of the pen first. The list of top bullpen arms is a who's-who of former starters.
  13. I'm going to hesitantly agree. It looked like when he was successful Krol was throwing 94-95 but more recent showings were more 92-93. Recently the Twins have had some success with velocity gains, so if they can find that missing 2 MPH maybe they turn back the clock. And by turn back the clock, I mean that one single year, 2016. Don't turn it back too far because he also stunk before that when he pitched out of the Tigers bullpen.
  14. I never thought much of Littell. Until I saw him throwing 97 MPH, wow, that was unexpected. I now I'm very encouraged about the possibility of him becoming a Rogers-ish organizational after-thought turned bullpen standout. Added bonus if the Twins end up being able to pull one over on the Yankees.
  15. Hard to judge any of these injuries. Cruz wanted to play through his but the IL stint was probably good for him. I'm wondering if being IL cautious is a new philosophy or if it's all due to the offensive depth the team suddenly has. I hope it's a new philosophy and they just continue hoarding the depth to support the action.
  16. I did start off slow! Page 3 was already the 3rd inning. Usually there's 3 pages of lunacy posted prior to the game even starting.
  17. I can assure you everything was discussed in the game thread last night. Well except for the game of course.
  18. I missed it! Just like falling asleep on New Years.
  19. This 1000 post better be worth it. I gotta work tomorrow.
  20. You’d fit right in in the stands tonight.
