  1. My injured CB aversion aside, this write up, just like many of them, screams that the guy was looking for a spot to put the player and not looking from the team's perspective: 'Where should this guy go, somewhere in the middle, Minnesota looks good' Because the writer wasn't going to think too hard about the Minnesota pick any way.
  2. Eric Wilson has surprisingly been awesome as well.
  3. Agree, typically that's the case, but presumably Joe let Falvey trade away the team, and since he's being shown the door, the probably means Tom and the rest didn't approve if Joe's decisions. So I COULD have seen a possibility Favley was let go in October if Tom and the investors had already taken charge, but there was likely still too much uncertainty at that time, and the POBO was likely the least of their concerns anyway.
  4. Glad Tulane and James Madison got their shot. The complaining from ND and power 5 schools that miss out is grating. It's not like they were a top four team and missed out, they are arguing about being the 12th best team. Boo hoo. I mean, why are Tulane and James Madison and even Ball State fielding a team if they have absolutely nothing to ever play for?
  5. So every team in the AFC looks good but not great. Seems like the perfect storm for Pittsburgh to unexpectedly get to the Super Bowl and snag Tomlin a 20 year extension.
  6. 3rd and 8, everyone knows it's a run up the middle, the Vikings run up the middle, and pick up 9?!?! Probably the craziest play all year, despite it being so very mundane.
  7. I don't take Tom as a nuanced baseball guy; I'm guessing the new 'hands on' approach will be he and the new partners improving the business side of the organization first. The business/marketing/PR side of things is a disaster, and wins on the field next year will likely only marginally improve that because fans have already turned on the team and ownership. So at this point, I'd think Falvey and the actual team is a secondary concern for them until the primary goal is in better focus. But even if they were looking to improve the on field stuff ASAP, it was already too late in the year to fire Falvey. I know everyone wants him out, but while it's quiet for fans right now, there's a ton going on behind the scenes, and if Falvey were to be fired, they'd basically have on options except to just promote the next man up. And I'm guessing most on this board want a clean house. I can't imagine anyone in ownership is qualified to identify a new POB, so they'll need to hire a search firm. The firm will need to find new outside options from other teams, while other teams are currently gearing up for the 2026 season. Not to mention, with the CBA expiring, and with the Twins still looking like a team soon to be sold, are they really going to get GOOD candidates to interview? Then when they hire that person, they have to repeat the process and hire everyone below them. Front office, scouts, stat-heads. Falvey's job was safe about a week after the regular season ended.
  8. Are you asking because you couldn’t watch it? he caught the ball, landed on his ass, but still maintained possession but still somehow lost it just rolling over.
  9. And I’m beyond tired of running up the middle on 1st down being an automatic 2nd and 10.
  10. How did Addison drop that?!?
  11. Yeah, for sure. But I'm not liking the Seattle fans. They started booing him way too early. Classless.
  12. At the risk of getting labeled the same, I doubt I would have made that connection. NFL players have been doing money related celebrations for ever. Seems like it's pretty standard stuff to convey "I'm a gansta!". Not criticizin', just recognizin' But I didn't see it or hear it and don't plan on Googling it so maybe there was additional context.
  13. Is something wrong with Darnold? Unbelievable they won’t throw the ball.
  14. While my knowledge of classic dance is limited, I'm going to presume that's some knew Tik Tok trend or something? I assume these frat bro podcasters or whatever they are, called the dance by that name? I can't imagine anyone would be upset if they described a dance and Nacua was expected to understand it was offensive. Racist moron aside, I'm not going to do the Boomer bit and say all the pop culture of these new generations is dumb, but I really don't understand the entertainment value of all these social media platforms. Almost none of it holds my interest.
  15. Like a dance from Fiddler on the Roof or something? Unless he was wearing some specific cultural clothing, I can't fathom how anyone could convey some kind of Jewish appropriation with a touchdown dance.
  16. I'm not saying the team can't be better. I think the juice of a new coaching staff might help in that regard all by itself. But I'd guess any on field improvement will be independent of the decisions new ownership makes this year.
  17. Nothing is changing ON the field, which, yeah we all expected that. I'd guess the goal is to make changes off the field. These are still the business-first people, the kinds of guys we've been dreading all year. They are going to invest their efforts and possibly money to get more people into the stadium, better advertising, merchandising and TV revenue perhaps. Then, hopefully for us if that works, they'll re-invest that profit into the team to then get even more people into the stadium, better advertising, merchandising and TV revenue. Any on field improvement this year will be ancillary and unrelated to the real efforts. But certainly more talented business people are involved now so they will know how to improve the bottom line. And screw them for only caring about that. But continuing to improve the bottom line should at some point involve improving the payroll. Obviously not this year.
  18. From the minute Joe was put in charge it was clear the family wasn't taking the Twins seriously. I do like this level of frankness. Not saying I trust it, but it is appealing. We've been posting for years that this family is absolutely bungling not just the on field stuff, but the off field stuff as well. Their brand of quaint, folksy marketing was stale two decades ago. They target older-middle aged, out-state fans who think they'll be murdered if they step foot in Minneapolis instead of the upper middle class hipsters who live in the most densely populated area of the state that happens to be right outside Gate A. They let an unqualified lawyer who's only ever employer was the Twins negotiate FOUR terrible TV deals. They carelessly pawned off other family business debt on to the baseball team. All of these things screamed that the Twins were not an investment they were very invested in. Now they wanted to flip the team and find out that upkeep on the property they wanted to sell actually matters? It is possible that the investors, who are almost certainly better business minds than the still living Pohlad family members, pointed out how much money they are leaving on the table with their laissez faire attitude towards the team, and that yes, there is a strong correlation between winning games and profiting. We'll see. I doubt they publicly make this move to Tom when the end goal is to still sell the team without us seeing some noticeable changes, good or bad.
  19. All the backup options stink. But if it's between Wentz or Minshew or Marriota or Tua, I'm not sure I have a strong preference. Though Tua would, I forgot he had a beef with Flores. He's actually stayed completely healthy two of the past three years, and there's no way the Dolphins can trade him. I'd guess he'll be getting backup QB money, even if he manages to get one of the starting jobs as a bridge QB. Also, I didn't in any way mean for this to turn into a stump for Tua. He's not on the top of my list, he's mostly just an interesting situation.
  20. I missed that one.
  21. Well Puka Nacua has just gotten the last PI called in his favor: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47336359/rams-puka-nacua-nfl-refs-worst-make-calls-get-tv Says the refs make up calls just to get on TV. I didn't take him for an impulsive idiot, but there's really no other explanation for saying this, even if he actually believes it. McVey surely won't be happy either.
  22. Well it makes sense when you consider that ZiPS has always liked the Twins prospects better than the Twins prospects have actually performed. Which was always a reason to think that it was very possible it was the Twins coaching staff that was the main problem. ZiPS and all the national prospect evaluators always being wrong about every Twins hitting prospect seemed like a pretty big coincidence. The odds would have suggested they'd have hit on at least a few.
  23. Oh they do. And they keep them in alpha hedge funds and high yield bonds, which are also known as junk bonds; sketchier investments that carry higher interest rates for the investors to compensate for the risk. So basically our Twins. Oh, you meant to put into the payroll? Ha, no, there's no ROI for them there.
  24. You mean the fans don't deserve the first class stadium they paid for and then gifted to the Pohlads.
  25. Disagree with all of you, Tom's AI chat bot sounds WAAAAY more mature than Joe's AI chat bot. This part is the most annoying to me though: I also recognize that your time at Target Field matters—and enhancing your fan experience will remain a key focus. From the atmosphere in the ballpark, to the service you receive, to the energy we create together, we are committed to making every visit special. Target Field is one of the very best ballparks in baseball because of you, and we intend to make it an even more exceptional place to watch the Twins and gather as a community. When are these owners going to realize that people aren't drawn to the stadium because they have a bigger jumbotron than the Royals, or because they have deep fried lamb kabobs or because they have more statues in the plaza, people are drawn to the stadium because you put a winning team on the field. Stop with the 'fan experience'. Go spend money on better players instead.
