  1. Have to say I've never heard of it. While high school and musical give me pause, Scottish zombies absolutely pique my curiosity. I'll look for that one.
  2. It was weird they kept him to begin with when it was clear they were never going to use him. But skip the draft, sign a (good) free agent instead. With how precious this front office is with their acquisitions and the length of leash given to them in an effort to be proven right, they shouldn't be grabbing any Rule V picks, which are supposed to be disposable by nature.
  3. I mostly wanted to suggest the Pirates unexpectedly spending, and the Twins unexpectedly not further slashing payroll (allegedly) being related since they run very opposite of expectations.
  4. Agree, but dispute the Die Hard point. The soundtrack used and sampled no less than six Christmas songs, the score was Christmas sounds (sleighbells, hand bells, glockenspiels, instrumental ho-ho-hos), the sets were Christmas decorated, Christmas was specifically referenced about a dozen times and it had the most over-used Christmas theme of all time: the main character fighting adversity to reunite with his family. It was capped with the Christmas miracle of snowing in LA with the stolen money and bearer bonds gently showering everybody below the blown up skyscraper, which was 100% intentionally highlighted by the film makers. If the caveat is that Christmas movies need to be PG family friendly, then no, I guess it's not. By any other metric, it absolutely has to be.
  5. For sure, he's a fit. But this is Bob Nutting and the Pirates, they've needed big contracts before and just laughed and said, "We don't care!" This is seriously one of the worst owners in professional sports; maybe the absolute worst. I don't see any way he's doing this because he cares about improving the team. When this team got their new stadium he splurged for one season, bumping payroll so they were were 19th in spending, then promptly cut payroll and have been bottom ten, usually bottom three, ever since. Ever since being the past quarter century. Next to zero chance he's turning over a new leaf willingly.
  6. They reportedly offered Kyle Schwarber a 4 year 120M deal. Their pivot appears to be Jorge Polanco, which I'm sure most would agree is a sizable step down. Still, this is odd. Is MLB secretly telling the Pirates what they publicly told the A's last year? Spend more or there will be consequences? And that offer came at about the same time the Twins proudly told their fan base that they were keeping Buxton, Lopez and Ryan. If this is what's happening, are the other owners are tired of the vampire owners getting a free suck at the teat, or maybe they are trying to set a higher payroll floor so they can argue with the MLBPA that no the DON'T need to raise it when they demand a salary cap next year? Can't imagine that second option will fly with the MLBPA unless that floor starts looking closer to 200M.
  7. No, I can decipher that. He's saying there's too many cooks in the kitchen. Of course most people view that as a negative where I guess here it's 'clearly the best fit for all'!
  8. It's OK to let it go. It's also OK to like the man but not like the job he's done.
  9. “My job is to try and educate [ownership] in aggregate," "Some of that’s an education process. There’s a little bit more education that’s on my shoulders now," Wow, condescend the new bosses before they even get announced, go get 'em Dwight Schrute! While I'm sure whippersnapper Joe Pohlad needed a good education, I'm thinking grown up billionaires and their egos don't tolerate an 'education' from their underlings. Derek better improve his corporate speak and start realizing he's 'advising' not 'educating'.
  10. A rusty QB with likely diminished arm strength. Inclined to get rid of the ball quickly. New to the system. Favorite all time target was a HOF TE. I'll bet this works out real well for Tyler Warren even if it doesn't work out for anyone else.
  11. And then those same fans were calling for Hurts the first time Wentz threw a pick. I don't much care for Hurts, but they'll throw him under the bus in short order. Maybe they already have. Worst fans in the league by a mile. And I hate that nationally the behavior that should land these fans in jail is celebrated as being 'blue collar' and 'die-hard'. Ha ha, they put six Panthers fans in the hospital, what a special place! Go Birds!!
  12. In two fewer games, he has nearly half as many rushing attempts and yards as he did lat year, while he already has more passing attempts. Yeah, if he's not using his legs, he's just not a very good QB. 28 isn't old for a QB, but if his running days are largely behind him, the Eagles are going to be in trouble. Howie Roseman might be the best GM in the league, but would he have the stones to start looking for a replacement in the next year or two?
  13. Awesome!
  14. Weak alibi.
  15. Yeah, if he can’t or doesn’t consistently scramble, he’s a below average QB.
  16. I think if we were Charger fans, we’d be just as frustrated with Harbaughs offensive game plan as we are currently with KOC. Just instead of being blindly aggressive, he’s blindly conservative. Trying to decide if he was always over rated as an NFL coach, or if he’s just stubborn and is a decade behind the league and can’t/won’t evolve.
  17. Yeah, happens most games unfortunately. The Vikings game I went to five years ago was 70% Vikings fans easy. I hope the Chargers find a new city after playing second banana to the Rams. Who also still have problems with away fans.
  18. Should Herbert still be playing? I know this game is important, but eesh, is he just going to have weekly surgeries to re-fix his left hand?
  19. I have him in a league but I already won that division so this weeks game is meaningless and I’m cheering against him.
  20. My dad tore his Achilles in 1969 and he still isn’t back to normal. But they also took out his tonsils while he was wide awake. Ugh, mid 20th century medicine now sounds so medieval.
  21. Jones can likely come back and play next year. It was reported that Rodgers was planning on coming back to play THE SAME YEAR if the Jets hadn’t been eliminated from the playoffs. But I’m no doctor. Maybe Jones’ injury is worse than Rodgers’ and Cousins’. Wow, all three possessive surnames-ending-in-S? Philip RiverS might want to sit this out after all.
  22. I just looked it up, are trades really not allowed until March 11? That's two full months Addison has to avoid doing something terrible while he's free to operate in the world without adult supervision.
  23. I think he and Aaron Rodgers are probably cut from the same cloth. I wonder if they've both talked about their favorite inoculation techniques yet.
  24. He was sitting on a couch because he was delusional enough to think he could land a starting job with a team that had a QB go down in camp. It was a bad look, it certainly rubbed me the wrong way, but as far as on field talent, I don't really think he was behind the others. Personally, I probably like Brissett the best as he can chuck it down field and he seems like a good clubhouse guy. However, those Cardinals aren't looking very competitive with him and it looks like a lot of his yards are coming in garbage time. After that, I might go with Wentz if we had that same decision to make next year. I didn't see the pompous diva or phony religious stuff he was known for, and until the game he had to get dragged off the field, he did keep them in every game. Maybe more importantly he was surprisingly even better than Darnold in terms of getting Jefferson the ball. That last part is going to be a big selling point for me next year as I don't think Jefferson is as disgruntled as many think he must be, but I don't want him getting there either. If we're not looking at actually competing next year, I might take the known over the unknown considering the best player on the team averaged 7 catches on 10 targets for 95 yards per game when Wentz played. Also, I don't want a guy I'd have to commit multiple years to. So no Kyler Murray and no Mac Jones, even if they were considered more talented. If they're punting on QB next year, 2027 absolutely has to be another attempt to get an elite franchise QB. With or without KAM and KOC.
  25. Those guys are all in the same bucket as Wentz. Aside from Winston, who sounds like a great clubhouse guy, but is an absolute trainwreck as an on-field QB. And this is coming from a guy who didn't like Wentz coming here. Agree with Mike that having a veteran there all summer might have helped JJ. Though, to me it looks like he needs more help than just a veteran QB. And I do understand this team is likely still going to roll with him next year.
