  1. So far, Kepler has been great!! If the Twins do better in the second half of the season I have to believe Kepler will be a big part of that. I just hope he doesn't regress like Sano does this year. We need some young guys to contribute now and not fall off the following year (I expect Kepler to struggle some, just not for like half a year).
  2. Time to promote Jose Berrios to Minnesota for the rest of the season. Then again if he starts one more game for Rochester I won't be too upset.
  3. Happy to hear about Felix Jorge's and Tyler Jay's promotion to Chattanooga. Well deserved for both. I guess that puts my theory of Jorge being traded to rest (I can live with being wrong). If Tyler Jay is moved to the bullpen I just wonder how that helps Jay continue to develop as a starting pitcher. It seems like a world of difference in going all out in 1-2 innings and crafting a game plan to go 5-9 innings. Also, happy to see Gonsalves out dual Carson Fullmer (White Sox prospect), and only give up 3 hits and no runs in his third AA start. Yeah for the first time I think we are seeing some growing pains from Gonsalves, but I am also encouraged that if anything his strike out rate has gone up. To me it proves he has true swing and miss stuff. I think like Stewart Gonsalves will adapt and thrive in AA ball. His stuff is exceeding what anyone thought possible from him and his ability to be a student of the game as a pitcher bodes well for him succeeding in the majors. Provided of course he improves his control and command.
  4. I agree on Thorpe. Plus the fact that Fernando Romero has passed Thorpe up as a better starting pitching prospect adds more reason that Thorpe may not be protected by the Twins.
  5. Impressive list, love to see Berrios and Romero on this list. I have got to say though, Felix Jorge has impressed me a lot this season. I knew he had a good season last year and has seemingly improved a ton this year. I can't wait to see Jorge join Kohl Stewart and Steven Gonsalves in Chattanooga. He more than deserves a promotion, and I hope Jorge continues to improve to be an even better pitching prospect.
  6. Ok that does make a lot of sense. To me it seems like the Twins are just dangling Jorge by keeping him in Ft Myers. I strongly believe Jorge has started more than enough games in Ft Myers to prove he needs to be moved up. It seems curious as to why he isn't in Chattanooga yet. Perhaps though he will get moved up as soon as Jose Berrios is called up by the Twins.
  7. That what I feel. To me Felix Jorge is just like Chih Wi Hu last year. A pitcher who probably will be at best a #3 starter or lower. I think Jorge is alright, but I'd rather trade him than trade Gonsalves, Fernando Romero, Kohl Stewart, Tyler Jay, or Lewis Thorpe. I mean with the Twins being sellers at the trade dead line I can see them trading a better young arm to try to get something good in return.
  8. My thought is he'd be an add on with Nolasco. Just my opinion. Otherwise he should be in Chattanooga, clearly he has dominated A+ ball.
  9. Still no promotion for Jorge dispite a 1.5ish ERA? I could be wrong, but to me it seems like Jorge is the Twins trade bait in the minors. I mean if Felix was promoted to Chattanooga and struggles a bit, his trade stock drops. But if he keeps posting a great ERA and having dominant starts in Ft Myers some team will have interest in him, that's just my own opinion.
  10. Another good start for Fernando Romero!! He's looking real good.
  11. Ok, makes sense. Looking at Jay I get a sense he could be a very special starter, so since this is his first year as a starter as a professional I think it is smart if he struggles a bit to sit down, rest and learn where things are going wrong.
  12. The Twins could have a better turn around, if they ever figured on how to develop our top tier minor league talent. If most major league scouts feel that Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano, Jose Berrios, and Max Kepler should be good Major Leaguers then where are the results? I mean some teams (like the Chicago Cubs) have done an excellent job in turning their star prospects into star players. The Twins stink because they can't develop any one period. If they do we will be closer to at least a .500 team.
  13. Depends on if Ryan and Molitor are going to continue to be ignorant and trot out trash like Milone or Nolasco in the rotation, and if Bruno and the hitting coaching staff can do any good with the likes of Buxton, Sano, Rosario, and Kepler. If both things don't happen it will be ugly.
  14. Tough start for Gonsalves. Over all I am not worried. It is only his 2nd AA start. He'll learn from this. That said Gonsalves has 14 k's in 8.2 innings at Chattanooga.
  15. The problem is in my opinion is that the Twins under Terry Ryan have a horrible player development team. That falls on Ryan. Let's start with Byron Buxton. If he is such a talent offensively why the hell can't he hit Major League pitching? Is the Twins coaching staff even coaching him, giving him proper coaching for when he is up to bat? All I have heard before Buxton came up is how he was going to be a "key" piece to the Twins turnaround. It hasn't happened. Secondly the Twins were horrible in their handling of Jose Berrios. In every game he started he looked jittery and had continual problems with command and control. From what remarks Ryan made makes me think Neil Allen and co spent next to no time in trying to fix a fixable problem, instead it seemed they just trotted Berrios out with out a plan every time he was on the mound for the Twins. And the Twins majorly f***ed with arguably their most important prospect Miguel Sano by forcing him to learn a new position he never played possibly cutting into and delaying Sano's learning how to be a better offensive player. I mean crap look at the Chicago Cubs recently. Have their top prospects from last year's club failed (no Kris Bryant is a leading MVP candidate)? How is it that even with top tier prospects that the Twins can't figure something as simple as developing that talent to be great.
  16. Problem is:will Jim Pohlad do whatever nessisary for the Twins to succeed? My biggest critism is that the Pohlads operation a country club organization where the hierarchy is re-arranged yet not fired (see Ron Gardenhire). Even if Terry Ryan goes we pretty much know that either Gardenhire or Rob Antony will be the new GM. And if Gardy doesn't get the GM job he will probably be re-hired as the manager of the Twins. Jim needs to realize in order for the Twins to be relevant, he needs an outside GM and so on to truly have any positive results. Face it the "Twins Way" is more of of a failure than a success.
  17. I just looked up to see who is pitching for Ft Myers on MiLB.com, and turns out Randy Rosario is pitching tonight meaning Tyler Jay is being skipped. What's up with Jay? Is he injured or is he just being skipped to help limit his innings?
  18. Not sure May is a AAAA pitcher. At any rate, we need to replace two starters in our rotation asap (Nolasco and Milone). Jose Berrios is the obvious choice for one rotation spot and to be honest IMO Trevor May is the next best option after Berrios. I mean Alex Meyer is hurt so he is not an option, and May as a stater is better than rolling out Jason Wheeler, Pat Dean, Logan Darnell, or Andrew Albers in the #5 spot. If May does terrible then we wait it out till either Stephen Gonsalves or Kohl Stewart are ready to pitch in the Twins rotation.
  19. Considering how bad Nolasco and Milone have been I'd bring him back to be a starter. I'd bring up Berrios now, and once May has had a few tune up starts in AAA ball I'd bring him back as a starter. So then the rotation would be:Santana, Duffey, Gibson, Berrios, and May.
  20. Dozier's value is at it's peak so if we want to trade him do it now before he falls back to earth with his numbers. Also if the Twins could throw Rickey Nolasco in too that would be great (so Jose Berrios can take his spot in the rotation).
  21. I think you are thinking of Fernando Romero of the pitcher who just got called up to Ft Myers.
  22. So what is the point in keeping Felix Jorge in Ft Myers? I'm sure there are roster moves that can be made now to accomadate Jorge. A sub 2 ERA this long into the season is reason for promotion, plus Sam Clay can be called up from Ceder Rapids to take Jorge's spot in the rotation.
  23. We need to rid our selves of Ricky Nolasco asap. The problem is that we probably need to trade one of our minor league arms to complete the trade. With that in mind I could see the Twins packaging Ricky Nolasco+Felix Jorge(minor league arm).
  24. I like Mauer personally. I just have to think as a ball player he has already hit his peak and is starting to decline a bit. I don't know why, but perhaps it has to do with his concussion and maybe even just being a catcher as well (taking a worse beating than any other position players). Maybe too his is trying too hard on a terrible team so his hitting approach has been seriously affected. But I would say this: Joe over all is the best most reliable hitter for this Twins team and far from the reason the Twins have been this bad.
  25. At the very worst May should be in the rotation come September before the likes of Pat Dean, Jason Wheeler, or Logan Darnell gets a chance to start.
