  1. They had a kids Rosario jersey day a few weeks ago. Wasn't it the Rays that had a Jason Tyner bobblehead day about a month after he was traded?
  2. Really, the only people in the FO that need to go are the decision makers. The new decision makers can decide for themselves what other scouts and support staff need to be replaced. I was on the Dougie bandwagon when Molitor was hired. I still think he'd be a good fit, but the toxicity of this organization has me pining for fresh blood. I think it would make a world of difference in the FO and field staff at all levels. The constant "inbreeding" within this organization over the last two decades has become a problem.
  3. I would think so since that is generally what teams that actually clean house do. It makes the most sense to do it right after the regular season instead of impacting the season and draft preparations.
  4. Agree completely. Firing the FO doesn't really get you anywhere midseason. When Molitor was hired, I felt that it was simply appeasing a fan base. He seemed to be what the majority of the fan base wanted despite the fact that he had no experience. I didn't like the move then, I certainly don't like the move now. I respect his playing career and feel that he knows the game, but none of that is guaranteed to translate to the manager's role. The only thing that I can think of resembling a reason that he's still here is that this team is loyal to a fault. Even at this point, I'm not sure firing him really gets you anywhere if the idea is to clean house in the FO.
  5. June 8th against Miami. I was wrong though. It was the 6th inning. It was also to get 1 out.
  6. They were given such an opportunity to shine. Meyer was called up and sat in the pen for a week, finally got out for an inning and then another spot start and hasn't been heard from since. Chargois was barely up for a cup of coffee. He had one bad outing and was immediately sent back down. If you're going to call up a player, allow them to actually show you something. One outing doesn't tell you much, especially if its their MLB debut.
  7. That is irritating beyond belief. You have guys like Chargois in AAA that deserve to be called up and you have guys sitting in the big league pen that are hidden and never used. Yet, they DFA a 25 year old instead to clear roster space. Roster mismanagement at its finest.
  8. Molitor could also simply use his bullpen more efficiently. No more of this three pitchers throwing 6 pitches combined to get 2 outs in the 5th inning crap. He wears some guys out (May) and doesn't use others at all (Ramirez).
  9. ...and there were books...books are a bunch of pieces of paper bound together with a front and back cover...anyway, there were these books with the names, addresses, and phone numbers of everyone in town in them! They also had the phone numbers of pizza joints - yes, we had to call to order a pizza. Yes, they did deliver. No, not by horse and buggy.
  10. I'm going to need a new computer monitor after reading that Sano was in RF again. They aren't as resistant to fists as I'd hoped.
  11. This is a good point. I think the FO has to realize that the bad luck component of that discussion would be extremely difficult to sell to the fan base though. Truthfully, it's most likely a mixture of both.
  12. [frantically dials ticket rep]
  13. I like how you laid that out. I'd prefer to hang on to Santana as well, but am not opposed to dealing him. With the group that you mentioned that are already here or waiting in the wings, it would be nice to have at least one veteran in the group. Gibson has the years, but Santana has the experience.
  14. They could put another bar in Target Field. Or hire a consultant to expand the concessions options further while adding to the already steep cost.
  15. All about the aerodynamics for me since I'm usually moving at the time, thumb in.
  16. If they do, will Cashman resign?
  17. Do you hold onto Dozier because he might be part of a good team in 2-3 years, or do you trade him in order to help you be a good team in 2-3 years. I agree, that is probably the most difficult decision at this point.
  18. I'm with you on Escobar at SS. He's fine, not a liability there, but not a SS on a good team. I foresee him being there until Gordon arrives, and I think I'm okay with that approach considering where this team is. Trading Dozier is a wild card to me. I'd definitely do it for a reasonable return. I do want to see Polanco there and iI see him as the long term 2B.
  19. I think you hit the nail on the head. I don't think you can trade both Escobar and Nunez. I see Escobar, for better or worse, the SS until Gordon gets here. Having to go find a starting caliber SS isn't easy or cheap. Plus, it doesn't make any sense when you have one that isn't a liability. Could they do better? Sure, but there isn't much of a reason to at this point.
  20. Can you imagine the reality TV show that could be made out of the Brady Bunch? I'm guessing that my wife would never stop watching it. I think I'd rather she kept watching the endless string of wedding dress shows on TLC though.
  21. that was entertaining. Interesting point on the hero. Seems as though TR neglected to sign him as well... Here's to hoping that the Twins put up more of a fight than they're accustomed to at Yankee Stadium!
  22. Ah, I thought you were talking his front foot. He had issues with the leg kick too. I know what you're talking about now. It is disappointing since he did have that fixed when he came back up, and he did have success with it. Somewhere along the lines, they got him thinking again instead of doing things automatically. Film study would help with that, but it won't help entirely.
  23. I'm of the opinion that coaching is overrated at the professional level, but not meaningless. I often feel that they get too much blame when a team is bad and too much glory when they are good. Ultimately, it's the players that decide the game on the field. They're the ones that have to execute better then their opponent. That being said, I think it's incredibly important at younger ages, through college and the minors. That's where a good coach can really clean off the rough edges and develop a polished player. That's where they develop the skills they'll need at to succeed at the highest levels. That renders big league managers and coaches there more for guidance than anything.
  24. Aside from no reasonable return, I'm having trouble identifying reasons not to. It would be nice to sell high versus sell low for a change.
