  1. For what it's worth, season ticket holders were informed today on how cancelled games will be credited to their accounts.
  2. Opening day pushed back to at least April 14th. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/mlb-announces-postponement-of-games-through-april-14.html
  3. I agree completely, Van. Been to several minor league games and you don't even know it's there. The only time I did was when the clock was in the direct line of sight past the pitcher. Thing is, the rule would have to be enforced to be effective. Players coming up from the minors have been used to the pitch clock for some time now, so it really shouldn't be that big of an issue of buy-in at this point. It won't affect those players since they've already been playing with one.
  4. Not at all, but I definitely wish I could!
  5. While true, that's been an area that there hasn't really been any significant movement on, from what I recall anyway. I just see that as the give and take of a negotiation. Whether it's meaningful is anyone's guess.
  6. And then in the next breath, you get this!
  7. I don't like being an alarmist, but reading something like this isn't encouraging.
  8. MLB's loss is college basketball's gain.

  9. Agreed. The last thing this roster needs is another log in the jam at corner/DH types. If there's any team that should know how to deal with a good hitting catcher, it should be this one.
  10. MLB has to make games easier to watch. They need to be more available to watch. Making it more difficult with blackouts and exclusive TV rights is asinine. No other industry that I'm aware of makes it MORE difficult to consume their product than professional sports and MLB in particular. I like what the NHL has done and I think MLB should take some lessons from them. It's awfully difficult to maintain a fanbase, let alone grow it, if people can't watch. On top of that, a pitch clock is such a simple way to speed things up. You don't even know it's there. Of course, it would actually have to be enforced, but the benefits to the minor league game are obvious.
  11. My guess is that the teams would figure that out and adjust accordingly. There may be some adjustment period, but I would think in the long run there would be fewer injuries. Going max effort on every pitch has a cumulative effect. Mechanics fall apart as they tire, resulting in more injuries. Take that away and injuries should decrease.
  12. This one is pretty easy for me. Punto, Hocking, Ford and Tyner.
  13. I find that quite impressive actually, for the very reasons you stated. Putting that much effort into an attempt to make someone else look bad only to make yourself look worse is quite a skill. Not one I'd like to have, but a skill nonetheless.
  14. As a professional estimator, close enough!
  15. Color me...not shocked whatsoever...
  16. This is just my opinion, but to me the job of commissioner is to do right by the game. I don't know how it can be argued that he's doing that in any context.
  17. As long as he doesn't take the game with it. That is a good article. Pretty scathing, but laid out well.
  18. Right, my point was that 75% was a pretty large increase. I can see working towards universal arb after 2 years, but don't think it's even remotely realistic at this point.
  19. I found this to be an interesting concession. Though, 75% is probably unrealistically high to begin with. Seems like the PA is admitting as such here.
  20. Well, ain't this fun?!?
  21. In fairness, he probably doesn't need to be there unless a deal is imminent. I assume that he's got lead negotiators.
  22. It also says a lot when said third party is offered before any meaningful negotiations between the two primary parties have been had. It was offered 2 months after the players were locked out. No negotiations occurred for 6 weeks. Then mediation was offered in lieu of a counterproposal that was said to be coming just two days prior. Given how far apart the two sides were from the start, a person doesn't even have to take sides in this to see that bringing in a mediator two weeks into meaningful negotiations is premature. They were just getting started.
