  1. Easy to be an ahole at 3 in the morning vodkadbag. I agree it is early to get down on offseason but your tone is unneeded. Did I miss something? Seems like your tone is a whole lot more contentious than his. And he's right -- it is pointless to be speculating how many wins the currently assembled roster would win. TR is probably not even close to finished yet. I don't want to be contentious, but to me the discussion is not completely pointless. It's sort of like can Superman beat up Thor -- never really going to happen but interesting to talk about while we wait for something more real to develop. And I agree that the name calling is not productive -- we are all Twins fanatics and therefore brothers who share a sacred bond,
  2. Hey, Brian, I am praying that your dream comes true. I am having a hard life right now and was struck by a sudden wave of reality.
  3. You obviously paid attention in biology class. Good post!
  4. I will miss watching Revere's amazing plays, but am glad to see the Twins pick up some badly needed pitching. I wish Ben the very best in Philly and hope to see him in the World Series against the Twins in 2015.
  5. I am glad to have the BYTO people. They have made everything spicier and more interesting.

  7. Lets say its 88 games like last year... The Twins won 66 last year. Just 16 more wins and you are 82-80 and that puts you in contention. If you are in contention. Deadline deals can be made to improve the squad... The team will play with more competitiveness. Everything can change. 16 more wins... That's one more win every ten games... If anyone thinks that isn't do-able... They lack something or haven't really put it in perspective. I would love to be wrong on this, but I don't think that this is likely, considering that there are only two decent starters on board, a pretty big hole in CF, a weak middle infield, and no great defenders in the outfield. I think that it is more likely that the Twins will lose 90+ games next year.
  8. How has Lannan kept his ERA so low? Lots of ground balls? Luck? Voodoo?
  9. I just love this site. Whenever I have a question, the quality of the responses is amazing. I just want to mention how much I appreciate everyone here. You are incredible fans and your insights make life so much richer.
  10. It seems to me that the Twins got a great deal from the Phillies for Revere, but a less great deal from the Nats for Span? Who produced more value -- Revere or Span? And please feel free to elaborate your reasoning after you take the poll.
  11. Evolution, like Darwinism, does not attempt to explain how life arises from non-life. That's like blaming tectonic geology for not properly explaining the red shift of the universe. It's illogical. You make a good point, Brock. But I can't tell whether you believe that it is logical to accept religious explanations instead of waiting for science to come up with explanations that are supported by science. Is that your point? In response to diehardtwinsfan, are you suggesting that scientists cannot explain how mutations happen?
  12. Great article. Let's hope that his elbow holds up.
  13. On the other hand, a contender at the trade deadline might be willing to give up a really good prospect for a former MVP if he is having a good season.
  14. You make sense, but when I see that lineup I am wondering if the Twins could lose 110+ games in 2013.
  15. It seems to me that the Twins need at least a solid #2 starter to have a decent shot to contend. Would it make sense to make a big offer to Anibal Sanchez?
  16. I was really looking forward to watching Revere play CF in 2013, but it seems to me that this was a good trade for the Twins.
  17. Obviously this would be risky, but it seems worth thinking about. I would love to have Santana back and Dickey won the NL Cy Young last year. BUT I suspect that the Mets could do better elsewhere, unless the Twins are willing to give up one or two of their top prospects.
  18. ****ing Obama! Yes, Obama founded the Players Union right after he perpetrated the Lindbergh kidnapping.
  19. Josh Hamilton I hope the Twins select two players. You can look at them in the spring and try to work out a trade with the previous team that would allow you to keep them in the minors. If you give them back it only costs you $25,000. With the salaries today 25K is nothing That makes a lot of sense. $25,000 seems like a reasonable wager.
  20. What would the Dodgers want for Punto? If they would take Blackburn, this might be a win-win.
  21. I think that they need to get good by doing the same things that the Rays and A's have done, while picking up what they can afford on the free agent market.
  22. I was truly looking forward to seeing Revere play CF all year. I love his hustle and his range. But if the price is right, maybe it makes sense to go with Hicks. What if Hicks bombs? Who would take over CF then? Benson?
  23. I agree with those who are willing to give up on 2013 in the hope of building something good for 2014 or 2015. It seems to me that the Twins are too far from contending to tie themselves up with any new large contracts.
  24. You analysis seems logical to me, but I wonder in your example whether other teams might offer something like 3/43 plus less incentives, taking into account the upside. And no matter what the Twins offer, the player can play one side against another. If the Twins offer 3/39 plus 9 million in incentives, the player can use this to try to get another team to offer more.
