  1. Seth, You need an insider account. http://espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=4748 11-19 are in the text below 1-10 list.
  2. KLaw 11-19 list: Jake Reed (11) Lewis Thorpe (12) Yorman Landa (13) Dereck Rodriguez (14) Amaurys Minier (15) Johan Quezada (16) Trey Cabbage (17) Travis Blankenhorn (18) Mason Melotakis (19)
  3. Duffey will be the #4 starter. Milone and Nolasco fighting for #5 and long relief.
  4. You may want Kepler now but that makes him more expensive every year compared waiting a month or two. I would rather have one more year of Kepler in his prime than two months as the fourth OF as a rookie. I believe you're overlooking Santana as the CF or 4th OF. I see Rosario-Santana-Arcia-Sano-maybe 5th defensive OF breaking camp. I doubt think Ryan wants to trade Plouffe (most probably think he's bluffing about Sano in the OF) and Buxton needs a big Spring to stay.
  5. Even if not picked, Jones must be viewed lowly in the eyes of the Twins. The good thing is that the Twins are protecting most of the high velocity arms. I think Dean is a starter in reserve insurance policy in AAA next year. Remember the Twins will need to remove players from the 40 next year when Berrios, Burdi, Reed, or other non-40s get promoted.
  6. RP and utility are the two places where teams can hide players on the MLB roster. Michael can't play SS. After Rogers and Walker, protect the hard throwing RP. No brainer - Chargois, Jones, Williams (LHP) Should - Melotakis (LHP) Probably - Bard (if healthy)
  7. Twins will protect 5-7 this year not counting Berrios. Protection Order: Rogers Walker Chargois Jones Williams Melotakis Bard
  8. Short Term: Line-Up: Murphy/Suzuki & Santana vs Suzuki/Fryer & Hicks 40 Man: (gain one spot) Murphy vs Hicks & Fryer Avoiding Buxton & Kepler call up but I assume before July. Long Term (2017 to 2019): Line-Up: Murphy/Turner & Kepler vs Turner/Fryer & Hicks Every trade has risk but I believe the benefits are greater than the costs. Kepler has the better MiLB track record than Hicks and OF is a position of strength. Murphy was on the fast track (like Pluffe) hopefully he has more upside than what his stats indicate.
  9. Buxton needs some time in AAA. Start Santana in CF. Sign a cheap defensive OF to spell Arcia or Sano (if not at 3B) in the late innings. Sign an expensive top reliever. Trade Plouffe only if return value has upside (no Hoey caliber talent).
  10. Comparing (ranking) two prospects, I believe the best method is which player would you be willing to trade. Javier vs Turner Javier vs Navaretto It's not close. Obviously the Twins think very highly to use their whole int'l pool on him.
  11. Javier is top ten or the Twins made a large mistake.
  12. Navaretto, Turner, and Rogers are too high. Navaretto and Turner look to be back-up catchers. Rogers looks like a LOOGY.
  13. Ryan will say that they have Jepsen for 2016 ($4 mil). 2015 does not matter (Hughes and Gibson) is not enough for the playoffs especially after a one game wild card game. Instead they should have demoted Pelfry to the bullpen and hoped he was a Wade Davis II. Earlier this week Ryan said he would do Ramos for Capps again. Is he just being stubborn or does he just over values RP?
  14. Don't trade a top ten (maybe not even a top twenty) prospect for any rental. 2015 has been a nice surprise but the Twins don't have E. Santana in the playoffs and young developing club. Any substantial trade must point to 2016 to 2022.
  15. How about getting Ramos and Hardy to fill our C and SS holes? Do you think we could trade useless and ineffective RP for them?
  16. Get quality instead of quantity. The Twins system has plenty of depth. It needs more elite players. Would you trade a top 5 pick in the draft for three second round picks? I understand baseball doesn't allow draft pick trading.
  17. Stauffer's track record and contract made no sense. Hopefully Ryan learns to get only the cheap guys like Boyer for Spring training bullpen tryouts. Even better, hopefully the strong bullpen arms in AA make significant progress in 2015.
  18. After watching Jay's start against Vandy, it's obvious he needs a change-up. He probably never used his change-up since most hitters couldn't catch up to his hard stuff. However, his fastball, curve, and slider look good. Send him down to TN (tax reasons) and then bring him up to Cedar Rapids and just let him develop.
  19. Deron Johnson has demonstrated the past few years to favor potential over higher floor guys. I like his strategy of getting high velocity arms. Get 10-12 in the farm system and hope 5-6 can excel in the bullpen. Less than 20% of the players drafted in rounds 4-10 make the majors and very few become impact players (Dozier being one of the exceptions). The senior picks help pay for the earlier prep picks.
  20. I would take Aiken. He has the most upside. If the updated medicals don't look good in July, then don't sign him and get the 7th pick in a stronger draft next year.
  21. Molitor gets credit for a few of the small things that separates good managers from average managers. - Base running - Bringing Perkins into the 8th inning It seems that he encourages the young players. Neil Allen (from Sarasota) may be the pitching coach but obviously the manager has influence on pitch selection and strategy.
  22. Benintendi was the Ohio HS Player of the Year two years ago. So he does have a track record. If you watch him play, you want him on your team. He reminds me of Jacoby Ellsbury. If the Twins could strike an under slot deal with him, I would be on board.
  23. I'm in the minority opinion but Bregman doesn't look like a elite player. He doesn't have elite speed, arm, nor power. He will move to 2B before he gets to MLB. Outside of the top three, Tucker and Harris seem promising and Fulmer is just unhittable. If Brady Aiken's medicals look normal for a TJ patient before the draft and he agrees to sign for slot then I would take him. Remember Lucas Giolito (#6 overall prospect) had TJ while a HS senior.
  24. If you want a Aiken comparison - Lucas Gioito. He's the #6 overall prospect by MLB.com - he fell in the draft because he needed TJ surgery. I believe the Nats are happy with that selection. Last Year Jeff Hoffman from East Carolina went 9th because he needed TJ surgery. Obviously taking a TJ pitcher is risky but the upside of an ace is worth the risk.
