  1. Seth, something is wrong here. I'm assuming either Mauer of Doumit is actually playing first. Two catchers seems a little redundant.
  2. Fire the GM less than 20 games into the season before we've even played a team in our own division, huh? That seems... reasonable? I'm hoping the sarcasm came through. I think this post falls into the "knee-jerk reaction" category. If they lose 100 games again, sure. That's a different scenario. I think it's a little too early to start re[placing everyone in the front office, especially if they haven't really had a chance to undo the damage done by the previous guy.
  3. Pedro Alexander Florimon Jr. Bats: Both, Throws: Right Height: 6' 2", Weight: 180 lb. Born: December 10, 1986 in La Romana, La Romana, DO (Age 25) Signed by the Baltimore Orioles as an amateur free agaent in 2004. Major League Debut: September 10, 2011 vs. Toronto Blue Jays Florimon was selected off of waivers from Baltimore over the winter, where he was ranked the 29th best prospect in the Orioles system bt Baseball America at the time. He got his September call up after going .267/.344/.396 for the Orioles AA affiliate where he played SS (except for 1 game at 2B and 1 game at CF). Florimon is off to a good start at AA New Britain this year. In 74 PA, he is hitting .313/.380/.438 with 2 2B and 2 HR. He also has a 1.000 Fielding %. Hopefully, he can keep up that kind of production and provide some much needed depth in the middle infield.
  4. I'm hoping to see Justin back in the field a lot more often in the next few months. But, it's not like Parmelee is playing poorly at all. I wouldn't mind seeing the Morneau at 1st, Parmelee in RF, Doumit DH lineup some more though.
  5. Is there an emoticon for shaking your head in disgust?
  6. Luke Hughes was claimed by Oakland. There hasn't been any word if the Twins will pull him back, which I believe they still can. I'm not sure about that part. It's looking more and more likely that Luke will be somewhere in Oakland's system and we will get nothing for him.
  7. I don't want to start another tiff here, but I believe the math you did to determine his annual income as $600 was actually algebra, not arithmetic.
  8. You are correct that he should never start and the criticism should be directed at Gardy and Ryan. But, if you are going to carry a third catcher, find one that has a better line than .178/.220/.261.
  9. Gardy is already making a public case from bringing back a third catcher. The article is basically pleading the case for bringing Butera back to the 25-man roster. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120419&content_id=29130424&notebook_id=29130428&vkey=notebook_min&c_id=min&partnerId=rss_min Full disclosure: Gardy never said Butera's name, he just said "the third catcher situation."
  10. I'm really enjoying watching him. His defense has been suspect at times, but he has been looking a lot better. And when he hits a Willing-homer, they are absolutely crushed.
  11. I know. It is like he is trying to give a heart attack. He got lucky with that last hit.
  12. Capps always make me so nervous.
  13. I wouldn't give up on Kepler quite yet. He's what, 19 years old? A bit too early to write him off.
  14. The number might be back down to 7 pretty soon.
  15. Put Liriano on the DL for "Anxiety Issues". That would make space for now. Just to be clear, I'm joking... sort of.
  16. I've only been in there a few times, but it is pretty nice. Especially, when the weather is not ideal. I also haven't tried the food. I've heard good things, but I've also heard it is on the pricey side. I went through all of 2010 and half of 2011 not knowing that season ticket holders have access to the Metropolitan club. Now that I know that, I have had to go up there a few times to get away from the heat and cold... depending on the day. It's is a cool experience.
  17. Sorry about trumpeting Cuzzy's. I didn't think about the consequences of letting the world know. That might impact our ability to get beer quickly and cheaply. I live close, so I take the bus, or ride my bike. I sometimes ride the scooter down there, but that has moped plates, so I park that at the bike racks too.
  18. I might have to go to the Fulton tap room instead of Scuzzy's... I mean Cuzzy's. I forgot that was open now.
  19. I usually end up at Cuzzy's. It is a total whole in the wall. Their food is ok, but the usually have $3 PBR before the games as well as other drink specials. If you like cheap dark bars, it's a pretty good one. It's only a few blocks away over on Washington, and it's a quick walk to get to gate #6 by the light rail.
  20. I love how quickly everyone adopted the Hammer nickname. Go Willinghammer!!!!!
  21. I think Capps is trying to make me have a heart attack.
  22. Poor Rich Thompson... Mike Scioscia must really not like you to let you be punished like this.
  23. Agreed. I don't think that was a defensive misplay at all. In fact, Span is considered a very good CF. I think it is a little early to start talking about trading Span and bringing up Benson. This is probably a conversation that should be started somewhere around mid-June when we have a better idea of how Benson is doing in AAA and how we are starting to stack up in the league.
  24. If he were actually at 100 pitches before the 9th, things may have been different. I would have been tempted to pull him then only because it was only April 11th and I can only assume that it wasn't particularly warm. But, at only 81 pitches and a 1-hitter going, I would have let him pitch too.
