  1. "Everything's okay" is terrible at generating clickthru.
  2. Exactly. He was rushed due to roster necessity. He's essentially a defensive specialist at SS until Correa is back. He's not on the team for his bat right now. But hopefully the bat will come with more experience.
  3. Just make this headline the TD site banner, minus "Jhoan Duran"
  4. No idea why it's double quoting you. This site completely breaks by Chromebook some days. Anyway, I agree with you. And part of it is the weird expectations of closers. The data shows a minimal difference in save percentage between Guardado and Nathan (and Rivera, for that matter). It's been talked to death elsewhere, but the difference between an average closer (Guardado) and a great one (Nathan) tends to be a couple of losses per year. People really overvalue the save stat. Stats be damned, I also agree that Duran has been just fine this year. tbh, I never thought he was a top tier closer even last year. He's a very good pitcher, but not a great pitcher IMHO.
  5. I'm continually surprised at how worked up people get about the 30th spot on the roster (depth-wise). To me, Keirsey, Helman, Castillo, Carmago, etc, are all essentially the same AAAA player. Same with Martin and Lee, except with the "prospect" label. Yes some are better on offense or defense or are faster or bat LH vs RH, but that's why options exist. The Twins will move all of these players between Saint Paul and MLB as it fits their needs. A demote, just like a promotion, is never permanent. Heck, half this thread is trying to figure out this week's 5 roster moves. It's always changing. But I appreciate the passion y'all bring about it for sure. In summary, I don't think any of these fringe players are difference makers anyway in terms of a 162 game W/L record. They all deliver about the same value. Keeping Kiersey up for now tells me this is "playoff mode" where defense matters (more).
  6. Weird analogy. You know the Rams have played in like 5 cities, right?
  7. "There aren’t any publicly available statistics on the impact of send or hold calls". I'm certainly not disputing the author, but it's surprising that this info isn't tracked, even in an unofficial capacity like NFL tackles or something.
  8. While interesting, this quote is 11 years old and consists of how two employees who are no longer in the organization interacted. I guarantee the organization doesn't work the same as it did in a previous decade. And if it does, that inability to adapt seems like a bigger concern.
  9. Maybe he did say more. I mean, this is an out of context quote pulled from the STrib and then, because paywall, we all read the summary and project. While I like to believe STrib would have included the full context if he did say more, you just can't trust anything twice removed from the source. Baseball quotes should be treated like we treat the games. It's not "what did you say yesterday." Forget and move on.
  10. wth is "The Minnesota Sports Fan" that is sourced for this? Do they hold any credibility? Because to me it reads like some random person's blog, which is then licensed by msn. Non story. As others have stated, he's obviously still playing 2B.
  11. Sorry but WAR is old news. I only care how many mph a baseball is hit. Can we tie that in? I don't care what direction the ball goes in. Just how hard they hit it. Bonus points if they tear off their jersey and flex afterward.
  12. Gordon looked awful at first too. Hopefully he'll get better.
  13. Team leader in AVG and OPS!
  14. Eh, with 70-person bullpens and few games over 10 innings nowadays, you don't really need long relievers. Even with yesterday's start in consideration.
  15. Ah, the Martin/Castro/Hellman OF we all predicted in April.
  16. The Twins website posts almost daily updates on this exact topic. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/twins-injuries-and-roster-moves
  17. This team always follows a terrible game with a win. This team always comes back in the late innings, even if they end up losing. This team has resilience.
  18. Oh, I didn't say I'd rather see Thielbar. Just surprised. With 2 outs, it was a classic LOOGY scenario.
  19. 3 batters, 11 pitches so far. Duran is so much more effective when he's efficient.
  20. Which I suppose he'll get when Lee is back. Lee isn't going to AAA in September.
  21. Maybe Royce needs a day off instead of extra time learning another new position.
