  1. Just no. That's what I think.
  2. Because there was already a 40-man talk thread here. Also, none of the players being discussed are on the ML team, never have been (yet), are all minor leaguers. This isn't a 25-man roster talk. <shrug> It's just one of those things that could really go either place, but because of the first point, that was the main impetus for my moving it here.
  3. I'm sort of surprised Cuellar won't be back, but I'm okay with this.
  4. Brock: This came up in the Twins forum, but a couple of posters are having difficulties with the 'Quote' function not working properly. (It won't quote.) Is this a bug that has come up before? I know I've had difficulties with some of the reply functionality while using my iPad, this included ... sometimes it quotes, sometimes it doesn't, among other things ... but never on my desktop.
  5. For future reference, please take these questions to the MinnCentric forum. I realize it's just easier to post these questions here as you are experiencing them while responding in the baseball forums, but it does tend to disrupt the threads. I'm sure that Brock has seen these questions by now, but I'll let him to know to check on it. I've never had difficulties with this issue using my desktop, but I have had a lot of difficulties with these types of issues using my iPad. Edit: I've started a new topic in the MinnCentric forum to address this, should you have more details to share, or other problems. Okay, sorry for the interruption ... back to baseball talk.
  6. Right. Which is why I said you won't find the change you want as long as those in charge remain in charge. Which is also why I will wait and see if the 'different' they have now is 'different enough.' But who knows ... even Viola spent time elsewhere, and wasn't part of the 'TR regime,' either. While there might be too much 'same ol' same ol'' for most here, maybe there is enough different in the mix to affect change? Only time will tell. Personally, I like the Glynn hiring, and I like the Bruno hiring. I've even really warmed up to the Molitor hiring. (What can I say ... I can't live in 'would've, should've, could've' land.) Even if it's not initially what I had hoped, it's kind of what I expected. But we have 3 positions left to fill ... let's see what opportunity they take with those. I sort of expect Cuellar to return as BP coach, so, that leaves two.
  7. Okay, so now the coaches can't even be a native Minnesotan or resident for them to be outside the organization and provide a new perspective? I get the need for a fresh perspective, but as I've stated elsewhere, I don't think you are going to truly get that without a change at the top, something I have also advocated for. You'll get some new ideas into the mix through the manager and coaching staff, but for what I'm hearing the amount of 'new perspective' people want, it just isn't going to happen without a 'from the top down' change. But by adding the qualifier 'not a Minnesota native/resident,' that is just getting overly picky, imo, but to each his/her own. Glynn has had impressive success in Rochester and has had more years experience elsewhere than with Minnesota. While it's not exactly what I was thinking, I think it's a step in the right direction. Sometimes effective change needs to happen slowly, sometimes not. Maybe we'll just have to wait until all the pieces are in place and see how it is working before deeming it the same old status quo.
  8. Not to get this thread too derailed, but I think the 'external voice' issue works best if it begins at the top. Sure, you can bring in coaches and whatnot from elsewhere, and they are likely to contribute new ideas to a certain extent, but, they still have to 'follow' the line that is already in place by the same FO personnel. The change that some want I don't think will happen to satisfy until we have new leadership at the top of the organization. Just my opinion here.
  9. I think Cuellar may stay as BP coach, and they will go outside for a pitching coach and bench coach. But who knows. What's left after that? 1st base coach?
  10. Yeah, I get that and am waiting/hoping to have that yet as well. Am just waiting to see who all the assembled coaches will be before stating the obvious and obligatory. But that said, even though Glynn's most recent stint has been with the Twins, and was impressive as you said, he's made his rounds through other organizations as well, so maybe he comes to us as a 'mixed voice.' It's a beginning.
  11. I can live with this. Anyone hear anything about where the 'process' is in hiring the rest of the coaches?
  12. No, not a rainbow on each uniform ... but each player represent the color of a rainbow.
  13. Hmm, they should just go rainbow and every player could choose their own color, like the suit thing they players did last year.
  14. It's okay. I think the gold 'shadow' gives the lettering depth so it pops a little more. But I wish the blue and the red were just a tad more ... vibrant.
  15. What Chief said. But to add another point ... intent. And trust me, I am not trying to defend the horrible person that Cobb was, but I don't think he was trying to keep baseball segregated in an effort to intentionally enhance his game, which is exactly what PED users do. ARod knowingly, intentionally used ... to enhance his game.
  16. I like what I'm hearing. But as the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding. Thanks, glunn, for 'playing through' the hand cramps on this!
  17. Okay, since we are all over the place in this thread, I'm going to throw in yet another thread jack, but somewhat related. Have y'all seen the renderings of the new Lucas museum that will be built in Chicago? It fits right in with the 'spaceship quality' that is now Soldier Field and will be a stone's throw away from there.
  18. Ooouuu ... The Force Awakens ...
  19. Good, but what I was expecting (hoping).
  20. Phew! I thought you were going to charge me with abuse of power!
  21. I'm curious, and probably could research this myself, but I'll be honest, I just don't have the time or will ... but still, are there, have there been, any other mlb managers who have never managed, even in the minors? That just went from über coach to mlb manager?
  22. Your last sentence hit it on the head. I'm not suggesting we can't disagree. If we didn't there wouldn't be a forum for discussion. Disagreement is healthy and I like discussion; often I hear ideas I hadn't thought of and it opens my mind to a different way of seeing things. But how we disagree is the crux and that's where action was taken as I mentioned above. While much of what the Twins do can irritate us all from PR to decisions to off the cuff remarks that don't come off well from decisions we think should be made and aren't and vice versa ... whatever they do/will do/have done/think they should do and don't that will cause us ire, we are still responsible for our own actions. Allowing for a certain amount of venting is good, but when the arguments start getting overly emotion and personal, down to inferring that other posters are blind to reality, and beating the horse dead and then some, then it stops. You can blame the Twins and what they do all you want, and as I said, they certainly give us plenty of fodder, but how we respond to it is on us. Sorry for the thread jack, but I wanted to make this clear, as a moderator, before we start beating this horse again.
  23. I've been way out of the loop lately of reading all things Twins, what did Mauer say yesterday? That comment was made elsewhere, too, but without a quote or link. Thanks.
  24. While I get that, and don't necessarily disagree, I like the TC. Too many other M's out there.
