  1. Most of the problems with guns coming into Illinois (specifically Chicago) are more issues with Indiana and Missouri than the other two.
  2. I just posted a separate thread topic on this. Does Obama get a nomination through the Senate before the elections? If not ... yeah ... MAJOR election issue, as I've always said.
  3. Omg ... what a news day! http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/13/politics/supreme-court-justice-antonin-scalia-dies-at-79/index.html Wonder if Obama will get a nom through the Senate before the elections!
  4. Well, those without the proper visas and/or passports.
  5. Yes, Illinois needs to erect a wall between us and Indiana and Missouri; yes, indeed! Brilliant!
  6. There's also the loophole of different states having different regulations. That's a huge problem in Chicago when a majority of guns involved in criminal activity comes from out of state.
  7. I think if you know people are going to be there, PM them and find a place to meet. Halsey PM'd me a couple years back, knowing I was around Fort Myers a lot and we found a time to meet out at the stadium. It's usually pretty casual like that. I think when Stringer and I first met, we knew we were going to be at the same game so we exchanged where our seats were. And Seth, when he's there, well, he's just easy to find down by the minor league practice fields. (And I'm hoping he does a few more iPad interviews this year. I'd offer to help if we were there at the same time but I think I'll be back north before he gets there.) So, like that ... but this requires that people post when they will be there, if they want. Some may want to move around with stealth and anonymity.
  8. Where in the Constitution does it say we have the right to own as many automatic and semi-automatic guns that we want to? The right to bear arms is not an unlimited right, the same as free speech isn't either. No rights are unlimited, the same way freedom isn't either. No one wants to take away the right to bear arms, absolutely no one, so quit with that defense and propose something that will work. The problem is you seem not to want any kind of solution whatsoever no matter what. So please, tell me what your solution is to gun violence in this country, because doing nothing isn't working.
  9. Because there can be only one, right?
  10. I think tolerance of our perception of someone else's stupidity is affected by our age. At least I find myself getting more intolerant of things as I age.
  11. Well, I was to the point I didn't want to drive my car to/from work if I could help it. So I moved within walking/biking distance to work; and also fairly close to near door to door transit service so I can use that when it's too cold or raining.
  12. It's really quite a burden being as intelligent as I am already. No one around me ever measures up and the constant stupidity I have to deal with day in and day out gets tiring; but they do amuse me from time to time. But I'm not sure I want double that. And not feeling sick, even when I am? How will I know if something's truly wrong? So, if I choose that, I will probably drop dead from cancer one day without even knowing I had cancer and could have done something about it to save my life. I know I keep playing this game by not playing this game, but I think I'm happy just as I am, so I'll pass on both rewards, as tempting as they may seem, and look for something else.
  13. No, a minute past my 10 when they left me behind.
  14. I'll come and visit you there when I'm back. With my 10weeks of paid vacation, I'll have plenty of time for both
  15. I think I'd last a minute. I'd kill myself if that happened to me. I guess I don't have enough survival instinct.
  16. And make sure you read/watch 'The Martian' a lot … well, just in case you get left behind.
  17. Europe ... been there, done that. Moon for me.
  18. There is no most or least with trust in all three. I'd not take the word of someone I barely know whose experiences with these individuals I know nothing of. If I have to put my trust in someone, I'd put it in myself first and the bartender second and just hope and pray one of the three remaining would step up if the need arose.
  19. I can't eat pizza ... unless I get one with no tomato sauce and no spicy, greasy meats. Some would say 'Then that's not pizza,' but it's how it goes. Oh, and no thick crust or deep dish ... just no. Thin crust or flatbread pizza if I go that route. Mostly I just don't eat pizza and I don't really miss it.
  20. hahaha ... yeah, okay ... you've trumped us again
  21. I'd do just the opposite. Sasquatch and Nessie getting the side-by-side top of the fold and president below the fold. As Van pointed out, it's may have cancer; plus thyroid cancer is one of the most treatable forms so not in the same realm as if it was announced he had pancreatic cancer. That one would get above the fold.
  22. That is if your severed head isn't rolling on the floor somewhere. (still laughing) But seriously ... if I reached the point in life where I could go on the starship Enterprise somewhere, it might be worth it to live longer.
  23. Right, his violent behavior definitely should be. But you were the one who questioned it. Anyway ... it's perhaps not a slur in the 'traditional' sense, but context is important and it's not the first time he's responded this way, both in the violence and the curses towards a specific ethnicity of an individual. How'd he know the guy was Cuban? There are certainly at the very least racist overtones in that for me.
