  1. Hahahaha ... that's hilarious. The best was the first guy, though ... getting knocked into the fountain. Lol. Brock better be careful.
  2. What? I don't jinx anyone. But I am scary when people talk about no-no's in the 6th inning and expect to live.
  3. Oh, I forgot to say ... 'But don't write a tome.'
  4. First off, don't worry so much. This is the thread where you don't have to have all your facts and metrics and whatnot ... just make stuff up if you have. Second, if you haven't offended and/or bored someone, then you're not doing it right. So don't worry about offending or boring anyone ... worry that you won't. Third, just start writing ... funny, serious, drab, straight, circuitous, whatever. There is absolutely no game thread judgement here. None. Game thread starts and starters ... judgefree zone.
  5. When we went through my parents' home a few years ago, Mom found some stubs to Twins games from 1965; also included were stubs from the All Star game that year and I think one or two of the WS games.
  6. Right. This. And how he's been going, he'd be on my untouchables list.
  7. I agree. Sound perspective. It should be the norm but hasn't been in such a long time that it feels more than it was.
  8. Moderator warning: If you don't like the topic, don't post. Stop with the eye rolling and the over-expressed incredulity over a topic someone wants to discuss. If you disagree with the OP, then make your claims and have a reasonable discussion. If you can't do so without getting disrespectful of other posters, management or players, don't post. If you don't think Sano should be sent down, then say why. If you do, then say why. And discuss that. Stick to topic and drop the disrespect, please. Most are doing fine, but a few need to check it at the door.
  9. Welcome! I grew up down river from you a bit in Winona and know the Hwy 61 river drive quite well with countless drives between Winona and the TC. Enjoy the boards and just jump in whenever, wherever!
  10. To be fair here to the discussion ... yes, in a marriage you compromise and split these chores and work it out to each's satisfaction. Van's not married nor living with his gf. They aren't at that point yet (if I'm reading all this correctly), so ... different rules apply to these kinds of personal chores. That said, now that Van cleared it up ... I think it wasn't really a great indicator if she's telling him how he did something wrong when he was just trying to help in a situation where, as I said above, they are dating, not long-termly committed ... yet.
  11. Ohhhhhhh ... it was HER laundry ... okay then ... you were being very nice to help and she should have just appreciated this instead of instructing you. Bad on her then. Imo.
  12. Well ... to be fair to Van's other half ... they aren't married nor are they living together ... so ... he's really asking her to fold laundry as a date activity. Really? Second, perhaps she's 'instructing' him ... and hopefully will do this enough times on this 'date activity' so he stops suggesting these things as fun 'date activities' they can do together and will just take care of his personal chores on his own without her involvement. At least that's how I read it. I learned a long time ago ... and maybe Van can send me his gf's contact information ... when you aren't living together or married, in a long-term situation ... don't help him do his personal chores including laundry, cleaning, shopping, etc. ... if you do he'll then look at you as someone he can give these chores to and reap the benefits without giving her any real commitment. Yes, it's all about the subtext.
  13. Um ... a nice thing to do ... together ... as in, 'Hey, let's fold my laundry together. That'll be a fun activity to do together!' ... as in ... yeah ... help me do my personal chores? Um, yeah ... because that's a fun date activity I'd enjoy ... then you are right to be instructed, whether or not she actually cares either, in how you fold your sheets.
  14. Yeah ... he was actually dating we older ones rather than himself ... unintentional or not
  15. Yes, a drawer plus a shelf in a cupboard. But I don't paint so have no need for acrylics, brushes, easels, canvases, etc ... all those space-taking type things. And I don't knit or crochet so no need for tons of yarn. I do some needlework, but always from a kit ... I don't design my own and go from there as aunts of mine have done and do ... but when the kit is done, I usually give it away and throw out the extra thread and the hoops don't take up much space as I'm usually not working on a large scale. And I did calligraphy for a while ... again ... the ink and nibs don't take up much space and nowadays you can buy markers with flat ends of different sizes; the tips either get too soft or dry up over time, so they get thrown out. I have some paper and crayons, mostly kept around for when I had younger nieces and nephews. Oh, and my hot glue gun. Basically what I'm saying ... I don't have large-scale supplies, and I get rid of 'excess' stuff when projects are complete. Those Lycra pencils ... might have to try them ... but they look odd-shaped ... how do you sharpen them? Some of my 'craftiness' gets put to use in home projects, too. And, again, project complete, excess out. Comes from living in a condo with limited space. 21 Jump Street the TV show ... pretty sure you weren't born yet when it came out. Yes, it's that old.
  16. Oh, I thought the first movie was pretty fun for what it was, a comedy/action (vs a straight up action or action/drama type) ... and loved the cameos of Penhall and Hanson. Wasn't expecting it at all and really laughed. Did not go see the sequel, though. One was fine and enough.
  17. Love me some Depp ... have since (<gulp>, I'm going to admit this out loud) 21 Jump Street. Yes, I watched that show. Don't judge, lest you be banished. As for coloring, I got one of those 'adult coloring books' from my sister. And saying that like that sounds like a porn coloring book, but it was actually one of those nice, interesting patterned books. I always liked coloring as a kid, and like design-type fun things to do. Heck, I bought a Spirograph as an adult because I thought it was that much fun! So bring on the coloring! And while people are buying up these nice colored-pencil, markers and pastel sets for their coloring, I dug out my Crayolas! (Yes, I still have those, among other things. I have a craft drawer ... it keeps the mind sharp and the fingers nimble.)
  18. Ick. Ever notice how their ice cream never melts? (okay, exaggeration for a point, I admit it). But if I'm going to have a soft-serve cone, I'm going to the DQ every day, not McDonald's. And then I'm likely to make my cone a dipped cone.
  19. Yup ... I chuckled
  20. Thanks for explaining the pun
  21. And his development is a tangent, yes, but a tangent and not the focus of the article. Keep to topic and quit hammering this as you have done for the past 2-3 years in any thread and every thread you can. Mike is right ... how does this trade impact us going forward ... it's about the TRADE ... not his development.
  22. Ice cream has always been my weakness. My favorite flavor for years was B&J's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. Awesome, just awesome. Then B&J sold the company. Then it was changed a couple of years ago to Coffee Toffee Crunch ... or something like that ... and it was just blecht; a really truly marked lowering of the bar. And I could say that for a lot of their ice cream. Just not as good. About that time, I traded in some of my weakness for strength. I don't buy/eat nearly as much ice cream. And if I do, I'm likely to just stay with bland ol' vanilla ... it's great with fresh berries or other toppings, in shakes, or by itself. Yup, plain ol' vanilla.
  23. This. Let's please keep it in the realm and intent of this topic. Feel free to start another if you want to discuss Meyer and how the Twins develop pitchers.
  24. Please continue Abad trade discussion here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/23416-article-twins-trade-abad-to-red-sox-for-rp-prospect/ Thanks
