  1. Traveling and a time zone change threw off my clock so I was doing some reading.
  2. Meanwhile, I’m trying not to get sucked into conversations that start with, ‘We have enough gun control. If you want to save lives, let’s lower the speed limit to 25mph.’ I can’t win that one and shouldn’t even try, yet I do.
  3. And I was responding to all of it.
  4. Moderator warning: Yes, this thread is here to post articles on the Twins from Fangraphs or other national publications ... so not local newspapers, either. Two or three pages ago a question was posted to a fangraphs writer regarding the Twins interest in Cobb or Lynn and it was answered and conversation started which was fine until it morphed into another Darvish non-signing rehash. There are several other threads for that. Either move the discussion to one of those threads or just simply move on from it. Please keep this thread for its intended purpose, which is clearly stated in the title.
  5. Chris Tillman and the Orioles have agreed to a one-year deal for $3mil + $7mil in incentives.
  6. Saying that it was a good trade isn't making it one-sided. I, frankly, don't really care what Tampa got out of it, we didn't give up a lot to get what I think is better than what we've had. That's improvement at a good cost, imo. Yeah, Odorizzi could really suck this year and Palacios could rock it ... or the opposite could happen. I'm not going to rate the trade today what could be tomorrow. Of course, when tomorrow gets here, I might rate the trade today differently. But for right now, I think it quite okay.
  7. I don't think we fleeced them ... and I haven't seen that from very many posters, in fact I think I read those words from one or two, and good for them on their opinion, so it is by far from a lot ... but I call it a win because we got something that makes us stronger without giving up much from the perspective of our own system. While we didn't get a front-end starter, which I think we need to make it deep into the playoffs, Odorizzi will slot well for us and be better than most of the 4-5s we put out there last year. Shoring up the back end of the rotation does make us stronger, albeit not strong enough. This was a good trade. And what we gave up is our 4th best SS prospect. Palacios was never going to be a starting ss for us because we have better. So I call it pretty even and good for us.
  8. Still, does it matter whether or not they truly believe it? Even if true, that he's better than any of us project and they see something no one else does, he's still behind Lewis, Gordon and Javier in our system. I think it was a good 1 for 1 trade. We got a better pitcher than what we've slotted into our 4-5 positions last year and they got a prospect they value. Win - win. Yes, he's not the front-end starter the team needs, imo, but he will slot in better than some of the 4-5s we put out there last year. So while it's not addressing what I would say it our top need, it does address a need, imo. It will strengthen the starting rotation, albeit not the levels we ultimately will need.
  9. I'm not sure how that one works ... it's not a guaranteed contract, so maybe he doesn't take a roster spot until he makes the team? Someone else will have to clarify that for me.
  10. Do you have intel on a Cobb signing?
  11. I'm okay with this ... especially after yesterday's move ... but I still think it's not the pitcher we need, but will be better than some of the 4 and 5s we put out there last year. I'm not sure I'd say he's a front of the rotation pitcher as indicated above, but will slot well for us. We'll see ...
  12. I'm okay with this one. That didn't hurt too badly ... but ... still not the pitcher I think we need, but we'll see ...
  13. Well ... I got nothing. No thank you.
  14. Learning to type 3 is really no different than learning to type 1. But there was a reason for it not reverting or not reading two, just don’t remember what that was
  15. Do you have drills for this? My sister does ... lockdown drills.
  16. Heh ... if I were to watch, the sports that would interest me the most are the snowboarding events, freestyle skiing and curling. Yes, I said curling. But ... curling is more fun to do than to watch. I just haven't been interested enough to check into when these events are happening and to actually turn them on. Here's a fun curling video for y'all ... especially Dinger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evNi4_2qHPY
  17. I haven't watched any of it. Just hasn't ... interested me as much for whatever reason.
  18. I only have 2 of them, plus the Gardy gnome ... and I have them on display with a couple of baseballs, one signed by Tony O, and an old-time hat and a batting helmet signed by Hunter, Jones and Stewart. That's pretty much it for memorabilia. I'm not a collector ... I just happened to come by those things. But I think you need to build a high shelf around the perimeter of your living room or game room, and start putting them up one by one ... of course that means you will have to collect them for the rest of your life.
  19. I think at the invention of the current calendar, he just had to pick a day ... and it's today. And he doesn't really know how old he is, just that he's older than dirt.
  20. This is all good to know ... thanks! From what I've seen (on Twitter, so take that for what it is) Sox fans seem to really like Dan Hayes and are sorry he's now writing for the Twins!
  21. I read an article out a couple years ago about how there are a high percentage of Dominicans testing positive for PEDs, citing the desire to escape poverty. It is not surprising that someone is fostering that on the other end. Ugh.
  22. Yeah, I've been thinking the same ... has anyone purchased a subscription? Worth it?
  23. It's kind of funny ... the over 40 thing ... because I've had trouble adapting to the one space rule, but the link does explain why, and Brock has been adamant about this with me when I first brought it up to him. Ah, those college years of TYPING papers, not only my own, but others' as well, for the cash. (I was a very good typist ... fast, accurate, and provided spell and grammar check as well.) But I discovered something in the process ... old dogs CAN learn new tricks!
  24. You can't possibly have reached age 40 yet! https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/two-spaces-after-period/
