  1. Ugh. Every performer has those moments. I’ve played enough recitals to know, and when they happen to others, I feel their horrified and disappointed ‘I blew it’ pain. But don’t get me started on the singing ‘God Bless America’ at all. Or turning these moments into spectacles rather than all of us participating.
  2. In other words ... have we all just made a mountain out of a molehill?
  3. Now that is how I like to see baseball players retaliate.
  4. I don't disagree with much of this, in theory. However, unwritten rule or not, Cave acknowledged it and apologized BEFORE Kepler even came to bat. So, if it were an unwritten rule, and it seemed it was, as Watkins seemed to be telling Cave that, and Cave had already taken responsibility for his 'grievous' behavior, that should have been the end of it. To then throw at the next batter after Cave already tipped his hat in compliance with said unwritten rule, was uncalled for. There was no reason, imo, to retaliate. Honestly, I don't like to see anyone being thrown at because a bad throw can truly injure a player, however, in this case, there seemed to be no reason for it even if you put stock in the unwritten rules.
  5. For those who want to continue the discussion on this unwritten rule issue with this game, a separate article/thread has been started. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/34487-front-page-unwritten-rule-gets-max-kepler-hit-by-a-pitch/
  6. I'm sorry, but that should have ended with Cave's acknowledgement of what he did when he reached first base, and what looked like his apology to the pitcher. The issue should have been done with at that point and no way the pitcher should have retaliated as he did, because Cave basically admitted right then and there he was wrong. Unwritten rule or not, as soon as Cave acknowledged it, it was done. Thankfully the pitch was controlled enough to not hit Kepler in the wrist or the head.
  7. Ah, okay, so Cave realized what he did, and acknowledged it and took responsibility, BEFORE the pitcher hit Kepler. Then that's just the pitcher being wrong. There was no reason to hit Kepler, and it's a good thing the pitch didn't hit a wrist or head and make it worse.
  8. Moderator note: I'm going to remind everyone not to politicize this thread, and take tangents with the mention of these things.
  9. It’s not in Chinese, is it? In ther words, subtitled?
  10. Was thinking of going to that this evening. It looked good.
  11. I can't answer that because it's not what happened. You are asking me to play an ''iffing and hindsighting' game. But okay ... let's do that ... if the FO had addressed their weakness in the offseason, the best pitchers available then would be doing better on our team because our pitching coaches would have done better with them and our offense would have backed them up, so we wouldn't have had to do last-minute shopping now. See how that works?
  12. That may be how it worked out this time, but I would have been a lot less forgiving of doing last-minute shopping in that case.
  13. I hope he learns something from it, but I really hope his teammates don't give him **** about it and make his job here any harder. I hope they welcome him and 'show him the way' ... we don't need a bad clubhouse.
  14. Right. I'm not about to get all riotous about it because, well, it's just a game, and two, it sucks, so be it, and three, I'm hoping he can help in the long run. But in the short run, yeah, makes the trade look a lot worse. And if he doesn't get better? Sigh. I don't want to think about that just yet.
  15. I considered that as last- minute ... maybe not as last-minute as Dyson, but it's last-minute when the need for BP arms wasn't addressed in the off-season, imo. We all knew it was a weakness going into ST. But then, maybe we were counting on some things to happen that didn't. Still ... it was not only a weakness, it was a glaring weakness. Addressing it in late July, when 2 minutes before the deadline or 2 days before ... is last-minute shopping when we knew it needed to happen back in November. All 'imo', of course. But that's how I feel about it.
  16. Hey ... could you do an article on hallux rigidus/limitus? Asking for another friend. (I'm kidding ... I have HR ... it's not a baseball player's affliction, typically, at least it's never come up in a player, that I know of. So was just being silly.)
  17. Also, another question, can a pitcher (or anyone) experience pain at both ends, in other words, double bicep tendonitis? Or is it likely that a pull on 'one end' is affecting the other? (If that question makes any sense.) Asking for a friend who plays tennis.
  18. Yes, I believe it's when the Twins started shopping seriously because the BP was something that was not addressed earlier, i.e. in the offseason. And no, I don't think prices ever became reasonable, as the best out there weren't moved, with one or two exceptions. But, I think the Twins got the best that was attainable at this time, because 1) they didn't address it sooner, and 2) the best wasn't being sold for reasonable prices
  19. I don’t think that’s the right lesson, or rather not specific enough. I’d say the lesson is, don’t wait until the trade deadline to actually build a bullpen, but rather use it to add that one special piece.
  20. Depending on age and usage and individual physiology, can this become a chronic problem, i.e. trips to the IL every season or a couple times a season?
  21. Hey, next suggestion, could you do a blog on a mundane ‘injury’ like bicep tendonitis?
