I can't answer that because it's not what happened. You are asking me to play an ''iffing and hindsighting' game. But okay ... let's do that ... if the FO had addressed their weakness in the offseason, the best pitchers available then would be doing better on our team because our pitching coaches would have done better with them and our offense would have backed them up, so we wouldn't have had to do last-minute shopping now. See how that works? -
That may be how it worked out this time, but I would have been a lot less forgiving of doing last-minute shopping in that case.

I hope he learns something from it, but I really hope his teammates don't give him **** about it and make his job here any harder. I hope they welcome him and 'show him the way' ... we don't need a bad clubhouse.

Right. I'm not about to get all riotous about it because, well, it's just a game, and two, it sucks, so be it, and three, I'm hoping he can help in the long run. But in the short run, yeah, makes the trade look a lot worse. And if he doesn't get better? Sigh. I don't want to think about that just yet.

I considered that as last- minute ... maybe not as last-minute as Dyson, but it's last-minute when the need for BP arms wasn't addressed in the off-season, imo. We all knew it was a weakness going into ST. But then, maybe we were counting on some things to happen that didn't. Still ... it was not only a weakness, it was a glaring weakness. Addressing it in late July, when 2 minutes before the deadline or 2 days before ... is last-minute shopping when we knew it needed to happen back in November. All 'imo', of course. But that's how I feel about it.

Hey ... could you do an article on hallux rigidus/limitus? Asking for another friend. (I'm kidding ... I have HR ... it's not a baseball player's affliction, typically, at least it's never come up in a player, that I know of. So was just being silly.)

Also, another question, can a pitcher (or anyone) experience pain at both ends, in other words, double bicep tendonitis? Or is it likely that a pull on 'one end' is affecting the other? (If that question makes any sense.) Asking for a friend who plays tennis.

Yes, I believe it's when the Twins started shopping seriously because the BP was something that was not addressed earlier, i.e. in the offseason. And no, I don't think prices ever became reasonable, as the best out there weren't moved, with one or two exceptions. But, I think the Twins got the best that was attainable at this time, because 1) they didn't address it sooner, and 2) the best wasn't being sold for reasonable prices

I don’t think that’s the right lesson, or rather not specific enough. I’d say the lesson is, don’t wait until the trade deadline to actually build a bullpen, but rather use it to add that one special piece.

Depending on age and usage and individual physiology, can this become a chronic problem, i.e. trips to the IL every season or a couple times a season?

I don't disagree with that. In fact, I stated in a later post that the violence in QT's movies has a purpose and is not gratuitous as it is in some. But ... that said ... part of the story, artful or not, it's still a lot to take. I don't demean his movies or his process because I have enjoyed some of the ones I've been to, but I've also chosen not to go to others, because, well ... I need to thumb through some pretty art books afterwards because it's too much for me.

I guess it all depends on why one goes to the movies. Movies for me are very much an escape from life for a couple hours. I like going on these short-lived adventures. That’s not to say I won’t go for the purpose of art or thought-provoking life. It just depends on what I currently need and what I currently don’t in my day to day.

Who said any of that? I never once even suggested, or hinted, that his movies shouldn’t be violent, just that they are. Because they are. Whether it’s art reflecting life or not, natural to the story or not, his movies tend to be violent. Nor did I even suggest it was gratuitous, as is the case with other movies of certain genres. All I said was I find it difficult to sit through. Every movie of his I’ve seen, I’ve actually enjoyed. But I haven’t seen them all, partly because I don’t particularly like the violence. I would never suggest it shouldn’t be there, but rather choose not to go. And I read a report that this movie is less violent than his movies typically are. That’s all I was saying.

This movie is purported to be his least violent. I know the man’s a genius, but I have a difficult time sitting through most of his movies because of the violence in them.
