    Who's giving Ryan that much credit this soon? I've seen nothing overwhelming from people saying he's the next coming of Johan. Most are pretty tempered about where they think he will end up as a starting pitching contributor. And, he's just getting his feet wet and will have much to prove next season and beyond. But, for right now, he's doing well as a rookie, even starting against bad teams. So what? I don't think the hopefulness is anyone anointing him as anything. We're just happy for the wins and happy for the potential we see. I don't think he will be Johan, not even close. But I think he could be a strong contributor in years to come and that's what I want to see.

    Not even close. Hawk Harrelson wins that trophy by a mile, of the ones I've heard. Dick is actually above average, from the ones I've heard. I'm out of area so I listen to a lot of the other teams' broadcasters. But, I get being 'weary' of the ones you have to listen to all. the. time., but he is not the worst or most obnoxious. Listening to the Cubs announcers is no picnic either. Ugh.

    Since you heard a first name, I'm assuming you mean Alex Colomé. It gets confusing when you have another reliever whose name is Danny Coulombe. I keep seeing these names and go 'Wait, what? Who? Which? Oh.'

    Jax and Barnes part of the starting staff next season? Doubtful. I'm not sure who's suggesting that. I think they either serve as AAA/AAAA depth or transition to the pen.

    Duff striking out the number 2, 3 and 4 hitters was pretty amazing, too, imo.

    The only concern for Donaldson is his health ... and that was a concern when we signed him and the Twins knew it, too.

    I appreciate the acknowledgement, and I wasn't trying to throw it in anyone's face, and whether or not they are truly 'lesser', as some here have indicated, I think those were championships that excited the fanbase and the city, which is why I mentioned it. Honestly, I don't follow basketball at all, either WNBA or NBA, and I don't live in Minnesota, but I still heard and read about their successes, so, they garnered some attention, which is why I mentioned it. I don't think it's completely true that Minnesota is completely devoid of 'happiness' since '91, but I get the general gist of the 'major 4 men's sports' in Minnesota being devoid of bringing us happiness.

    The Lynx won the championship in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 ... so, no, it hasn't been since 1991.

    I actually think moving Polanco to 2nd base came a couple years too late. He wasn't moved because of Simmons, he was moved because it's where he needed to go, imo. And then we needed a SS. We still need a SS.

    Seriously? You think Simmons is the worst signing ever, in all of Twins history? That's a pretty sensational proclamation, imo. I think there were worse signings this year alone than Simmons ... and the two other you mentioned I think were far worse.

    I keep rewatching that Jeffers catch of the foul tip and looking at Straw's reaction. Was he just saying 'Aw, come on' or did he have a complaint of some sort?

    My response in the poll in the Twins Talk forum were that I thought those two would be a lock ... although, a lot of uncertainty around that. Still ... I like what I've seen so far and think they could make the beginnings of a good rotation. Of course, it all depends on who else is with them. But man, really liked Ryan tonight ... I mean, who wouldn't? And I'm not anointing him as anything, because this was just his 2nd major league start, but I like what I see so far.

    yeah ... not sure I see Tortuga on this roster after the season ... Kepler is 50-50

    Yeah ... because that's a legit comparison. Ober was still a prospect last year and didn't pitch last year. This is his first experience in the majors and Robbie Ray is a veteran pitcher. Why don't you try comparing what Ray did in his first year in the majors? That might tell a different story.

    Right ... both Gordon and Cave came into the game in the bottom of the 8th, neither pinch hit for anyone

    He's 35 ... not a huge difference, really ... he turns 36 in October.
