  1. How disappointing.... There was so much promise going into the offseason coming off a season with 101 wins and roughly $70 million to spend on impact players. Instead we get a bunch of aging rejects that wouldn't sniff the post season on any team that is legit about contending for the World Series. Please don't @ me with Bailey could still be solid or Hill has been very good. He's 39 and coming off a significant injury and won't potentially start until mid way through the season. I don't believe for a second Avila is better than Castro either. I'll give them Clippard as a solid add to the bullpen but the rest....yuck.
  2. Trading for Trevor Story makes me very nervous based on his home and away splits.
  3. I'd pass. Boston also only has 1 prospect in the top 100 they could add to sweeten the deal.... No reason to alleviate them of their problem unless they're going to add at least a good prospect to the deal.
  4. It would be nice to know who the "other" teams that contacted the Twins are.
  5. Why would the Twins want either Caleb Smith or Jose Urena? Smith is already 28 has a career FIP of 4.79 with a ERA+ of 89 and Urena has a career FIP of 4.69 with an ERA+ of 86. Plus his SO/9 is only 6.1. Yuck.
  6. Meh... He fills a need, is cheap and is only signed for one year but not excited about him.
  7. Great! Now if they can sign Madbum this is looking like a solid rotation.
  8. No on Rosario as the Twins have prospects who can replace him that should be ready within two years. No on Rogers as he's a relief pitcher and has 4 more years of control. Maybe after next season if he's lights out again. Buxton is a ? to me. How do you even get an appropriate value for him with how much time he's missed. I'd probably wait until next offseason as he also has 4 more years of team control. I'd look to get something done for Sano. Can MLB contracts be incentive based? If so I'd want to put in extra incentives that will motivate him. Berrios is a no doubter in my mind. He seems like a great teammate and is very hardworking. I'd look to lock him up as long as possible.
  9. I would assume he will start the season in AAA after playing 94 games last year in AA. In all honesty, if he starts in AAA, he's potentially an injury away from being called up. If he's healthy going into next season and gets off to a good start I see no reason not to call him up when an opportunity arises.
  10. Hamels and Teheran as #4 starters would be fine with me but they need to shoot higher for a top of the line pitcher.
  11. My main concern with going into next season with Astudillo as the back up is who do the Twins have as depth if Garver gets injured. He was remarkably healthy this past season, but he does have a history of concussions. I almost think the Twins would want to go into next season with Garver, another catcher and Astudillo. Additionally, with rosters expending to 26 next season I feel it's easier to carry 3 catchers.
  12. I don't know that I would consider these four pitchers on the same level as any of the pitchers for Houston or the Red Sox when they traded for them.
  13. Can we stop penciling Graterol into the 5th starter role for the Twins rotation? The probability of him starting with the Twins has to be under 5%. He hasn't pitched more then 102 innings in any season, so his max will probably be around 150 next season and he has a total of 5.1 innings at AAA. He's going to start in AAA so they can manage him innings pitched so he'll be available for the post season if the Twins make it there next season.
  14. Maybe it's a good thing the Twins got swept. There was no way with the pitching staff they have they were going to win the WS. In my opinion, had they played competitive with the Yankees maybe the FO and the Pohlad's go into the offseason only planning to tweak the roster. They were thoroughly out played against the Yankees and now know for certain they need to make some major upgrades to the pitching staff. Go get a top of the line starter this offseason no matter the cost. Resign Pineda and Odorizzi. Sign a top notch bullpen guy to match Rogers.
  15. I switched to Youtube.TV back in June when I moved back to MN and I love it. I can watch what I want from my TV, laptop and or phone and it's extremely easy. I live in an apartment and the dog had to go out right during the eighth inning last night when Washington was mounting their comeback. Left the TV running, put the game on my phone and had no issue.
  16. To me a big key will be getting to their bullpen early. They have a very good bullpen that is deep, so if the Twins can jump on Paxton early and force the Yanks to bring them in early will be necessary. Severino coming back from injury probably will be on a pitch count for game 2, so being able to get their bullpen early in game 1 will be important.
  17. If I were making decisions I would start him back at AA next season and make sure he can hit there before I move him up to AAA. There is no need to rush him as this point since SS, 2B and CF seem to be covered.
  18. I think the Twins would have to consider trading him if a youngish starting pitcher with team control was made available. Rosie brings a lot to the team but the Twins have a ton of corner OF prospects in AA and AAA that will be looking to make the MLB roster next season.
  19. That would be a terrible rotation to start next season. I can understand bringing back Pineda and or Odorizzi to be your third / fourth starter but they need someone equally as good as Berrios at the top for this team to have a legit shot at the World Series.
