  1. I clicked like for this, but there are several players I'll put ahead of Griffey for the "should have been unanimous" title, and the man at the top of the list is Hank 755.
  2. Maddux made a career out of hoodwinking umpires into raising their right arms for pitches out of the strike zone.
  3. This is a testament to Suzuki's talent and physical fitness.
  4. Some pitchers are simply not cut out for pitching 3-4 times a week. Some pitchers are simply not cut out for throwing 100+ pitches every fifth day. May's stuff should play well in a late-inning role but I think it could be time to put him back in the rotation and see what happens.
  5. From Phil Miller: More back problems for Trevor May mean another major-league opportunity for J.T. Chargois. May was placed on the disabled list Wednesday, retroactive to Sunday, with a lower back strain, the second time he’s been sidelined by back issues this season. May spent nearly all of June on the DL after suffering back spasms. Chargois was called up the last time May was injured, but made only one appearance, allowing five runs and recording only two outs against the Red Sox, before the Twins needed the roster spot and sent him back to Class AAA Rochester with an ERA of 67.50. But the righthanded closer has been terrific for the Red Wings, posting a 1.80 ERA at Triple-A, with nine saves and 41 strikeouts in 35 innings.
  6. First World solution: Get to the airport first thing on Thursday morning and fly to Houston. Find a bar with a TV at the airport, watch the game, and fly back. Or, if you live near Minneapolis you could just go to the game in person.
  7. Look who's coming in to pitch! It's rally time!
  8. One should never combine calculus and alcohol. It's dangerous to drink and derive.
  9. Wrong decision by Escobar. Gotta make that read.
  10. Winnah! (Sorry, got here a little late.)
  11. Dang. I was to chapter 4 of my next game thread intro. Guess I'll have to shelf it.
  12. You could try ebelskivers. I think that's only come up once that I can recall, and that was way last year.
  13. Right play by Mauer, wrong play by Sano. Kids gotta live and learn, I guess.
  14. Haven't read the thread yet but I think our best chance is to hope that after a down year Murphy comes back to where he was projected when we traded for him.
  15. And he's not the offensive star of the game.
  16. If I'm managing Berrios starts every fifth game until October arrives. Same with Gibson. Same with Santana as well, assuming he stays with us. Beyond that, whoever they think needs the exposure for a potential waiver deal or whoever they think should be evaluated as a future starter.
  17. If not next year then soon afterward.
  18. Mauer should go in to play first in the ninth
  19. I was just about to say that this guy is trying to throw a fastball past Dozier. And...
