  1. I support a payroll floor and ceiling based on a percentage of income. Baseball needs to level the playing field so teams such as our Twins can legitimately compete for a title consistently.
  2. Respectful golf claps. Nice move dealing from shortstop, a position of organization strength.
  3. This is lame and depressing. Maybe Sanchez has something left in the tank. Why are we dumpster diving though? It does feel like a Terry Ryan move.
  4. My confusion (frustration) is not being able to figure out what the plan is?!?! The Twins had opportunities to land the biggest fish among starting pitchers this offseason. They took what appears to be a check swing, while not swinging for the fences at what might have been a once in a generation opportunity the way the stars were aligned this offseason. I guess they now are going with their present roster or are looking to sign a free agent starting pitcher during spring training. There is a wall of secrecy around the dealings of the new front office. While they don't owe the fans an explanation and don't want to tip their strategy, it would be nice to at least know what the big picture vision is. It seems when Falvine speak, they say a lot of neat and catchy phrases without really telling us much. There is still time to make this offseason a success, currently it is neutral - which is disappointing considering the 2017 wild card berth.
  5. Growing up, we were taught to try to hit a line drive that would hit the pitcher in the forehead.
  6. Has he considered having a centralized location where the vast majority of the on display items are shown. My impression is that the items are currently spread throughout Target Field. I am assuming space is an issue at Target Field.
  7. Yes, I had a left handed Kirby as the best case scenario. Wouldn't it be nice if they all turned into Hall of Famers? The buzz on Baddoo is encouraging. Thanks for giving a warm ray of hope on a bitter cold February morning.
  8. You make a good case that Teheran would be a good fit for the Twins. What would they potentially have to give to the Atlanta baseball team to make it work?
  9. As far as the competition with the Saints.. they could be playing against a guy who was recently from an MLB team.. or more likely a guy who was recently released from an MiLB team and the organization gave up. Honestly, I go to around 10 Saints games per season and it is OK competition.
  10. The Saints do well in the category of former MLB players. I cannot imaging any independent teams being able to do much better. I still wish the Twins would use the Saints as more of a defacto non-official farm team, although I suppose there would be some sort of violation there.
  11. Nice to see the brilliant Frankie Viola make the starting rotation. Thank you for that.
  12. Glad to hear the Mayor will be back with the Saints in 2018. Great guy, he makes the games at CHS so much fun.
  13. Aren't lists such as this almost entirely opinion? Isn't that the point. To suggest there is no evidence the Twins would not have won without Puckett is outrageous.
  14. Blasphemy. Kirby is #1. Without him this franchise would be nothing and a laughingstock with no championships. He is the Twins greatest player.
  15. It seems like we are quibbling on the particpation rate, but whatever. This Washington Post link has baseball at #2: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2016/05/17/youth-sports-participation-is-up-slightly-but-many-kids-are-still-left-behind/?utm_term=.790d4580bca5 I had a recent study that had baseball at #1, just cannot find it now on my lunch break. Even your link has baseball at #3 in raw numbers. Furthermore, the baseball decline in the study you cite is less than the % decline seen in basketball and football, the two other major sports. My point was that baseball participation rates are strong amongst youth and that is a good indicator for the future of baseball.
  16. You are a wise person. This would be the easy, simple, logical, quickest solution that would solve all of our problems, except for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
  17. This felt like a public service announcement from the Puerto Rico division of tourism.
  18. Baseball needs to rid itself of the pace of play agenda. Baseball is what it always has been and we are getting dangerously close to damaging the integrity of the game. Baseball has either the 1st or 2nd most participants in youth sports in this country. It will survive and thrive.
  19. The Twins put the building blocks in place in 2017 to make a run at the Indians. It might be more realistic to the Twins to win the AL Central in 2019 as opposed to 2018.
  20. Cool quotes. It was interesting what Rowson said about Buxton, "...go out there and be an athlete and do the best you can. Don’t think about it, just go out there and react.” Sometimes these guys just need to go out and play baseball every day, get the needed experience, and progress. Now, let's do the same with Kepler in 2018 against left handed pitching.
  21. Jack Morris and Chuck Knoblauch need to be added to the Twins Hall of Fame. The only Washington Senator I know is Walter Johnson and obviously if the Twins were to recognize Senator great then Walter should be in the Twins Hall of Fame. I like how the Twins do it now - they don't deny the history with the Senators yet do not take accomplishments by the Senators franchise and openly promote them as their own. I would add Frank Viola and Johan Santana as retired Twins numbers. Future Twins Hall of Famers - Joe Mauer and Brian Dozier. There are many others playing in 2018 that are early in their careers and would just be speculation at this point (Sano, Kepler, Buxton, Eddie Rosario, Berrios)
