  1. You haven't convinced me. I recall you inferred the Pohlads should spent like drunken sailors because their money was all inherited.
  2. When I first joined the board and suffered thru the less than heady days of 2013 and 2014, I knew when our favorite team started to win, TD would start attracting the best and brightest. This has come to pass.
  3. Kirby Puckett once said, the way to win the division is to win early, and then hold on for dear life.
  4. Law during a chat posted on another thread, basically said: ...........There are 15 aces, 30 #2s, 30 #3s, 30 #4s, and 30 #5s. When and if our favorite team decides to move Rosario, the potential pool would include falling #2s, #3s, and rising #4s and #5s. I don't see a problem picking up a starter, our FO feels they can trust starting a play-off game.
  5. Rocco and the FO won't change a thing concerning resting players. What you're seeing is advanced, advanced metrics put into practice. TR during his first stint as GM was known as an innovator, you're seeing basically the same thing from Rocco.
  6. Our favorite team having a surplus of corner outfielders does not diminish Rosario's trade value. Our pals trading Bauer is a current example. Anderson is far from from proven. Once the book is out on him, video game numbers will cease.
  7. Being a non-contender is not a permanent affliction. Most teams make trades to become better, and Rosario is a fine player. If I recall correctly, he received a substantial number of All-Star votes the past 2 seasons.
  8. Rosario has accumulated 5 times the career fWAR of Anderson and is over a year younger.
  9. Rosario is equally attractive to contenders and non-contenders. A workable definition of a #3, is a starter you would trust to start a play-off game. I'm guessing our favorite team will seek a #3 for Rosario, and if push comes to shove, we can easily sweeten the deal with our deep farm system.
  10. Off the top of my head, we picked up 4 quality arms at the 2018 trade deadline and one more at the 2019 deadline. All but a handful of teams are bad at selecting and developing starting pitching. No clue how the Indians do it.
  11. For some time now, free agency has become the market of last resort, as far as pitching goes. This was further amplified the past 2 off-seasons. If we never sign another free agent pitcher, you'll never see me yielding a pitchfork. As far as bullpen arms go, we have clearly won the numbers game going forward. Still need to accumulate additional starting pitching prospects. In the not too distant future, we will be forced to deal current stars we can't or won't extend. This will most likely enable us to win the starting pitchers numbers game.
  12. I don't care how much it costs or how they do it, I would bring back Odorizzi and Pineda. Thorpe and board scapegoat Perez can fill out the rotation until Graterol is ready. I hate to even think it, but I believe Gibson is done.
  13. Rosario would yield well over 50% of the starting pitchers in The Show. I'm guessing you mean a mythical ace. In that case, he would be a fine headliner in a blockbuster trade. If they decide to go relievers, he would bring back 3 or 4 Fearless Nick Andersons.
  14. I don't want to break any hearts, but Cron will be manning 1B to start next season, keeping it warm for Kirilloff. Larnach's appearance is dependent on the significant haul we receive for Rosario. There is no timetable for this move and a stop gap may be employed. Regardless of what you may read, these FO guys are good and have large market team written all over them. Think what they could do with an owner who knew his way around a ballpark and didn't spend all his time counting pennies.
  15. I agree. At some point in time starting pitching becomes a numbers game. For minimal cost we have added Chalmers and Vallimont to the mix. Savvy moves by a FO that some members were screaming to fire recently.
  16. Take a look at the most money Reinsdorf has ever spent on a free agent. It's by far the least of any large market team. Also, I understand King Theo did it, but I'm very leary of any large market team which chooses to go into a full rebuild, instead of taking out the checkbook.
  17. Our favorite team could win the Central in their sleep next season. The blockbuster trade or trades, everyone is lusting for, will happen in the next year or so, and involves moving at least 2 of Berrios, Rosario, Sano, and Buxton. Those we can not extend will provide at least one mythical ace, with an outside chance of two.
  18. I agree. I think we're winning the numbers game, when you include the bullpen arms in the minors.
  19. Get the pitchforks ready. I'm guessing we see Littell and/or O'Rourke before Graterol come play-off time.
  20. Filling a hole at the trade deadline is a different animal than filling that same hole during the off season. According to different sources on MLB Trade Rumors and MLB.Com, our favorite team was on most, if not all of the usual suspects at the trade deadline. When the rumored price was made available it was simply much too high to even consider. The FO did say we would be all in, if we were in contention. What they didn't say was we would pay any price, even if it would damage our future. Looks to me we have plenty of options to fill our staff, so we can continue to dominate the Central. Once you make the play-offs anything can happen. The goal should be to build a team to win the Central every year. Those who feel our favorite team owes it to fans to build a team than can win the World Series every year on paper, don't fully understand mid-market teams, or realize how much money would be wasted on overpriced free agency contracts. Falvey is surely in the running for Baseball Executive of the Year.
  21. He was an overdraft. Looks like they found the backstop they wanted and took him the first chance they had. Solid move.
  22. There never was any chance we could retain the Core of 4 plus Rosario and Berrios. I always thought the least likely to be retained was the pitcher and Rosario was the most easily replaced. I would guess at some point in time we extend either Buxton or Sano, and deal the other. We will have the ammunition to deal for that elusive, mythical ace in the next year or so.
