    The Hughes extension was totally unnecessary. I didn't hate it that much at the time, and still don't. But it was done at least a year earlier than needed.

    Trade Plouffe as part of getting a catcher. A DH platoon of Arcia and Pinto make sense. I still think there would be room for Vargas too if he earns it.

    Since we won't buy, can we still sell 'high' on Hughes?

    Yeah. The way he plays is what makes him great, but he also seems like a guy who will have trouble staying on the field because of it. I would certainly consider trading him if the price was right. If you could get say Lucroy and Segura for Buxton and Santana/Polanco do you do it? I'm not sure. But I wouldn't reject the idea out of hand.

    If they take Nolasco, I would do it. Then you can either flip Shields in the off-season, or potentially Hughes or Santana for a C or SS.

    Perk goes through a stretch like this every year. Hopefully this is the end of it. This loss is still on Duensing/the manager/the general manager.

    I'm as annoyed with Sazuki as anyone, but you have to admit his BABIP luck this year is awful.

    Hicks does make trading Arcia more of a valid idea.

    Mike Pelfrey now has a 6.80 ERA in his last 8 starts. I look forward to him making 12 more!
