  1. Fire Rocco and his spreadsheet overlords.
  2. After his "resurgence" Christian Vazquez is now 3 for his last 32. Perhaps we can stop worrying about "saving" Jeffers and actually let him catch two games in a row?
  3. Yes. But only if Falvey goes too. Otherwise the new Rocco will be the same as the old Rocco. Managing by the spreadsheet that was given to him by the computer geeks 5 hours before the game.
  4. This isn't going to end well....
  5. Why pull Jax after 3 pitches? Ugh.
  6. Get Lee, Varland and Winder up ASAP. They're immediately you're 3rd and 4th receivers. Sign Smyly and Taylor. Cut Farmer, Margot and Thielbar. Enough with terrible veterans. If you're going to sink at least do it with the kids.
  7. I'll be shocked if we see Ryan before September if at all. The play-offs suddenly feel unlikely.
  8. If you're not trying to win, sell. Trade Santana, Larnach, Kepler, even Buxton.
  9. There won't be a replacement for Target Field for at least 30 years. If the Pohlads don't know that, they're morons. The Pohalds really should sell. The franchise is probably at its peak value. Cash in Jim.
  10. Calling up Dobnak is just like making a trade.
  11. His salary may be a reason they don't DFA him and call up Jair, (even though it shouldn't be) but it should have nothing to do with how often he starts. It should be irrelevant. I'm not suggesting Jeffers has to be Sal Perez in his prime and start 150 games. But let's not act like Jeffers starting 100 games at catcher and Vazquez 60 instead of 80/80 is some huge stretch that will wear him down. He's in his prime. He's not 38 years old.
  12. Why is it a tough situation? Vazquez's salary should be irrelevant. He's the back-up catcher, not a co-starter and should be treated as such. Most starting catchers in MLB catch at least 2/3 of their teams games. Why can't the Twins? They showed their hand in the play-offs. Jeffers every single game. But in the regular season a 50/50 split is required? There's absolutely no reason for that.
  13. There is absolutely no reason for Vazquez to start this game and 2 games in this series. Jeffers could have started tonight and Sunday. Rocco's insistence on giving the worst hitter in baseball half the AB's over a guy OPS'ing .800 is just ridiculous. And even his defense cost the team tonight. Letting him hit in the 10th inning is just pathetic and inexcusable.
  14. That Jeffers guy who leads the team in HR's is pretty good. Too bad he's only legally allowed to play 50% of the games.
  15. As great as Lewis is, this manager and front office continue to be so stubborn it's laughable. Leaving Wallner and Lee in the minors to cling to Margot and Farmer. Insisting on sitting Ryan Jeffers 50% of the time. It's just asinine.
  16. A struggling .500 team would be easier to tolerate if they would get the cooked veterans off the team and hold anyone accountable. Theilbar is cooked. Farmer is cooked. Margot is of no value versus Austin Martin. Vazquez we're stuck with, but catching him 80+ times is idiotic. Kiriloff needs to go down to AAA two weeks ago. Get Martin, Wallner, Funderburk etc. up here and cut bait with the dead wood. Including the hitting coach, probably. Move Kepler and Jeffers down in the order when they're slumping. These are not difficult adjustments.
  17. Deadass team run by a spreadsheet geek front office and manager and with totally disinterested ownership. They're really hard to root for sometimes.
  18. Fire the hitting coach. Put Castro lead-off and let the first 5-6 spots in the order bet set for awhile. Stop the constant platooning BS except for the 8th/9th spots.
  19. It doesn't absolve the Twins of blame, but I think MLB had more to do with this than most appreciate. It's likely Twins followed their lead believing some sort of group MLB streaming solution for the effected teams was going to happen and then it didn't. Rather than do it on their own, they took the $$ from Diamond and kicked the can. That's also likely why the D-Back/Rockies/Padres announced their distribution details right before Opening Day, because they had to scramble to get deals negotiated DirecTV/Cable/Fubo after MLB's plan stalled out.
  20. The situation sucks and the Twins deserve blame. But let's not pretend that most of the people currently mad about them not being on Comcast would have gladly coughed up $200 to the Twins stream them. Most of them wouldn't have and would have been irate that it was the only way they could watch. The D-Backs, Rockies and Padres had no real choice. Their Bally's/AT&T RSN's went out of business. The Twins, at a minimum, should have negotiated a package of over-the-air games with Fox 9/45 etc. to ensure some access for the broader fan base that buys tickets.
  21. Or Jeffers. Vazquez time again. He will now have started 35 games at catcher to Jeffers 29. There is no possible defense for that.
  22. Possible, but really it's more likely there's nothing much they can do/say at the moment. They signed the deal they signed. They can't get out of it unless the bankruptcy court voids it (unlikely). It is what it is for the rest of this season. The Twins have very little say. They made their bed and are being forced to lie in it. If they come back yet again in 2025 they will have no one else to blame.
  23. There's no longer any excuse to DH Jeffers, so I was hoping Vazquez could be limited to one game per series which should have been the case all along.
  24. No. I believe the Yankees have a lefty tomorrow and Rocco won't play Lewis 2 days in a row to start. So I expect Vazquez to catch tomorrow too with Jeffers DH'ing, Margot and Farmer in the line-up etc.
