  1. Can't wait for the year when the Twins make win now moves... This signing is gross.
  2. The opportunity cost is worth more than whatever value Kinley could provide... We're now starting the season with essentially 24 players since Kinley will be buried in the bullpen. We've seen for a few years now the disadvantages of that. Then he'll be kept around for a couple of months before eventually sending him back. Someone else could have taken his reps and innings during that time.
  3. We have bleh, gross, ugh, and yuck so far. I think that's all Seth needs to write in his upcoming Rodney article.
  4. You can also celebrate about to be 41 year old Fernando Rodney signing a 1/$6 MM contract with the Twins. Oh boy.
  5. I think you can agree that they should be aiming higher than a Pressly type. I'm more annoyed they continue to explore this avenue (rule V) when the odds are so low drafting a player who will make a positive impact for the team.
  6. Why are we wasting time with another Rule 5 pick? I can only hope the leash is extremely short. I don't mind losing Burdi and Bard because odds are they'll rot on on MLB bench or get sent back to MN.
  7. Eventually they'll have to pay market rates if they want to make a playoff run... Just like everything else, what do you want the market rate to be, money or prospects?
  8. I'm in agreement with Longenhagen. All of those players are interchangeable IMO. Whatever combination of 3 players the Pirates want to make the deal happen.
  9. Both flukes. Shoulder fatigue in 2014, no surgery. Elbow strain in 2016, and was shut down for the year because the Pirates were out of the playoff race.
  10. What injury history does Cole have? No significant surgeries as far as I can see. The Yankees don't appear to have any issues with his consistency and the fact he's in the NL....
  11. Uhh, what? Cole does nothing to position the Twins for a playoff run? He'd slot in at the top of the rotation, and probably start multiple games in a playoff series. I don't understand your argument.
  12. Shame on the MLB for allowing this ownership group to take over Miami. Nothing has changed from past ownership. There's really no excuse for Miami to act like a small market team.
  13. Harvey's trade value isn't nearly as high as you may think. Gunnarthor posted in the Offseason Rumors thread that Harvey for Profar is being discussed per John Heyman on twitter. Harvey's a shell of his former self. I will be quite upset trading Dozier for someone like him.
  14. After looking at this chart you put together, thanks for that, I'm still very interested in several names. All of them would be great, but we can already rule out Davis for being too expensive. Holland in his 2nd year post TJS is especially intriguing IMO. I wanted him last year, and nothing has changed from my interest level. I really like Shaw as well. He throws heat, has 5 straight years of 70+ appearances, and to use one of Gardy's favorite words, proven. It also doesn't hurt taking talent from an AL Central opponent.
  15. Falvine are probably "crushing it" in other aspects of their jobs that we as fans don't really care about. They built an actual analytics department, hired different coaches that made an immediate impact, and showed more creativity in trades than the previous regime. As far as moves that have impacted the MLB team, call me a stickler. I'm waiting for more than a Castro signing, and a couple of trades for prospects in the 20-30 range before jumping on the crushing it! bandwagon.
  16. Boy, that doesn't sound like a contending rotation to me. If the Twins don't go after a top of the rotation SP, they better have a boat load of depth. If Mejia and/or Gonsalves fails, they're back to the Adam Wilk's and Tim Melville's of the world.
  17. I'd be more disappointed if I was a fan of the only West Coast team *cough* Oakland *cough* left off of his wish list. Ohtani to Minnesota is as much of a pipe dream as going on a date with Scarlett Johansson, or Brad Pitt. Whatever floats your boat!
  18. I'll believe it when I see it... The Twins made it a priority 4-5 years ago to acquire more "power arms" for the bullpen. We've seen one (Curtiss) so far.
  19. I don't think that's a bad thing at all... Historically, the team experiences bad luck handing MLB jobs to prospects on a silver platter. Let Gonsalves, Romero, Gordon, etc. earn their way to a promotion. It's still a little too early to count on them making an impact in the MLB right away.
  20. Thank you for all of your hard work Seth! Now I have withdrawals from our daily Minor League Reports during the season....
  21. Your wish is the U's command. Croft will be granted his release from the program. He also says he was unfairly suspended by Fleck earlier this season. He will not be missed.
  22. I would suggest watching the 60 Minutes interview with Ohtani back in April. Any preconceptions you have about him and entitlement would be eliminated. He's a very humble person that lives in a modest dorm in Japan, so I'm not sure why you feel he has a huge sense of entitlement? What teams has he asked to write him love letters? You mean when his agent asked how a team would use him? That's kind of important to him, since he is coming over early and missing out on nearly $100 million to be a 2-way player.... Honestly I think you're way off base on Ohtani.
  23. Signing with the Twins Purchase MLB The Show Should be a good time
  24. Yeah I agree Park's signing had very little to do with Sano moving to RF. It had everything to do with Plouffe staying in the organization and TR valuing his defense over Sano's. At the time there wasn't any question Plouffe was a better fielder than Sano.
