  1. Forgive me if I don't believe a word the team says about recovery/return date. Last year we were told Erv's minor finger injury would only keep him out until early May too.
  2. Why wasn't this taken care of in, I don't know, February?
  3. Sadly the rest of the league is flush with MVP caliber 3B... I'm not sure Sano even cracks the top 10 best in MLB with an improved season.
  4. I'm wishing he finds his way on the Vikings. Super underrated who will be a great value pick.
  5. On MLB The Show, the pitching coach you hire boosts certain traits and vice versa... Wes Johnson is a +4 boost with velocity! Hope his injury rating isn't a -2...
  6. Like RiverBrian, I am waiting and hoping for a time when salary wage doesn't equal automatic playing time. Schoop's floor was unacceptable in Milwaukee during their playoff run and benched him... If he continues what he did in Milwaukee I would want him benched too whether or not he's making $7.5 million.
  7. I also envision Gonzalez as a perfect plan B at 3B and 2B if Sano or Schoop fail to produce. They needed someone who can start for an extended length of time in case of injury, a la Eduardo Escobar last season.
  8. The self-fulfilling prophecy is strong with this team, isn't it?
  9. It's a drum a lot of us have been taking turns beating all winter. It's inexcusable not to address this unit. And no, I don't count signing Blake Parker as addressing the bullpen. Reminds me of the Vikings and their continued lack of addressing their O-Line.
  10. This could be a 12 part series... Lots of bounce backs needed for the team to be successful.
  11. Because Kimbrel has been historically good as a closer over the last 5 years and takes 1 roster spot. Who are you cutting from the 40 man to add 3 relievers that require a spot on the 25 man roster?
  12. I went to a couple of spring trainings when I was a young kid. I remember going to MLB.com before the trip to get familiar with the Twins' prospects so I could call them by name to get an autograph. I'm pretty sure the last time I was there was Joe Mauer's rookie season. We were lucky to catch him after an afternoon game to sign a program with him on the cover. It's still framed in my room to this day... I also thought I got some killer autographs that would soar in value one day... JD Durbin, Jacque Jones, Matt LeCroy, etc. They didn't quite work out as well as Joe.
  13. I didn't realize TFernando Romero had a silent T in it... The more you know!
  14. *Sniffs air* *Pulls grass from the ground to check which direction the wind is blowing* Yep, it's HAWT taek season! You owe me a new computer... This is what's left after clicking on this article.
  15. TC should have bet on himself and not take the CLEARLY team friendly deal... Though I was worried he would take his talents to Chicago and mascot a Super Bowl caliber team...
  16. I started watching Russian Doll on Netflix. I like the premise of the show so far... 3 episodes in. This show was created by Amy Poehler and is a comedy/drama series.
  17. I didn't have interest in signing Kepler long term, but oh well. Good for him.
  18. I'm okay with a cap as long as it increases at a similar percentage revenue does year over year. The salary floor is more important to implement so we can put an end to $45 million payrolls (looking at you, Florida teams) Better revenue sharing should be a requirement too... Otherwise this league will continue to be a have vs. have not situation.
  19. A simple rebuttal to the greedy on both sides argument is, prove it. Open up your books, MLB owners. Show how you're somehow losing money in an industry that generates $10+ billion in revenue. It's simply hard to believe. NBA owners tried pulling the same crap 8 years ago. Claiming 21 out of 30 teams were losing money and couldn't afford player salaries anymore. Funny, 8 years after the lockout concluded, player salaries have skyrocketed to $50 million a season. From what I can tell no one had to board up the arena doors for failing to pay the bills.
  20. You know we could have this same conversation with anyone in entertainment... Why are actresses paid more than cops and teachers? Why are (some) standup comedians paid more than them? There seems to be a fundamental flaw in how to view sports. It's always been entertainment in my eyes. If they want fans to view it as a business, guess what? Their product hasn't improved in a long time... In fact, it's become worse over the years. And they're still charging the same amount to cops and teachers for a worse product. I love baseball, but I'm sure as hell not going to dedicate my time or money to this particular business, the Minnesota Twins.
  21. I concur that is the problem, idle time between pitches... Remember when John Lackey took 6 minutes to throw 6 pitches? https://deadspin.com/john-lackey-should-be-in-jail-1819503434
  22. I'm getting a Taylor Rogers vibe reading about Thorpe. Maybe he's on the short call up list for the bullpen considering it wasn't addressed in FA or trades.
