  1. well, he only has like 80 PA with RISP this season, but if you want bigger sample size, for his career: 2087 PA with RISP, .334 BA and .935 OPS. He has always been very good with RISP.
  2. While we have some talent, it's not near what real contenders have and I think it's miraculous we have even managed to have a winning record in two of the last four years. I didn't expect us to have one this year. You can't go far without quality starting pitching, which we haven't had in quite some time. That falls on FOs and minor league development. Maybe even the people who draft our guys.
  3. I'm trying to wrap my head around the idea that Moloitor has been given strong talent. Compared to contenders, our talent has been lacking (to put it nicely) for quite some time. I don't know how anyone can look at the rosters we've had since Molitor took charge, compare it to the talent on contenders, and say our talent has been strong. The starting pitching along makes that assertion laughable (not that pitching has been the only area we lacked a lot of talent).
  4. Two things about his bullpen management. First, fans from every team rag on how thier managers utilize the pen. Just need to spend some time on other boards to see that. Second, we shouldn't pretend he was given a lot of talent in the bullpen to begin with.
  5. Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime is coming out August 31
  6. Better than Fargo? Better than GOT? Hmmmm
  7. So we just have to wait until Stewart has burned 4 years of control and/or is 30 years old? :-) It's too bad our first round pick took this long to figure it out (assuming he can continue this next year). It's also too bad that this is a standard/best case scenario we have for a #4 overall pick.
  8. Last year, Stewart carried an ERA of 4.23 between AA and AAA. He averaged 6.3 SO9 and 5.0 BB9. This year, Stewart carried an ERA of 4.47 between AA and AAA. He averaged 8.4 SO9 and 2.7 BB9 Overall... Stewart spent parts of three seasons in AA, 3.87 ERA, averaging 6.5 SO9 and 4.2 BB9. Stewart spent parts of two seasons in AAA, 4.34 ERA, averaging 6.9 SO9 and 2.6 BB9. Those are pretty poor numbers (certainly don't scream promote me)and Berrios dwarfed those AA and AAA numbers when he was there...
  9. I asked cause I couldn't find the guy. I know Gurriel is close, but he was the only AL 1B I found close. I know at the end of July no one player in the entire AL, regardless of position, had a better BA w/RISP. At that point, his numbers with RISP were: .426/.500/.611. They've gotten better across the stat line :.429/.513/.635.
  10. We haven't shown the ability to take advantage of high draft spot.
  11. Mauer has come to the plate 78 times with RISP this year and walked only 13 times. That's, what, a hair less than 17% of the time? And two of those walks were intentional. So really, more like 14% of the time. So I wouldn't expect him to look for a walk in that situation. Nor would I expect a HR :-) But I am happy for him and the team he hit the HR.
  12. Well, to me it's not really surprising. And It's not just the BA. The OBP is over .500 and the slg % is over .600. Thing is, he only has 78 PA with RISP this year. BTW, which AL 1B has a higher BA w/RISP?
  13. I like this post a lot. Sums my thoughts up too...other than expecting this team to be contending. I figured we'd lose more games this year than last year and miss the playoffs.
  14. Then they have Bauer and Salazar for at least two more seasons and Clevinger for four more seasons.
  15. Does that mean the Astros and Indians only have one ace type pitcher? :-)
  16. This organization was all messed up. It shouldn't surprise anyone this new FO hasn't been able to turn things completely around yet. Probably unreasonable to think they could have so quickly.
  17. yeah, there is a difference between depth and MLB quality depth.
  18. I think Rosario is already the heart of this team. I think he took that mantle this year, or at minimum was sharing it with Escobar. Berrios will hopefully become a true ace.
