  1. I think he's done. He's acting like he is.
  2. Exactly It's a big decision, take your time Joe. It's your life and your job, Joe, and no one has the right to rush you just because they can't wait for the answer. Just cause some fans are selfish and think they are owed answers doesn't mean anything.
  3. Well, we have to take into account the concussions (especially the one that ended his catching career) when looking at whether or not Target has sapped his power too, right? I don't know, he's never been a HR hitter in his career, besides one outlier season.
  4. Pretty even home/away stats for his career (which includes TF). Slightly better BA and OBP at home, slightly more power on the road. The OPS difference between home and away is 11 points more on the road. As far as when they were in the dome, there were some seasons when was clearly way better on the road (2006, 2007), and then clearly way better at home (2008 and 2009). For the six years he played in the Dome, it ended up pretty even between road and away stats.
  5. Manhunter on Netflix is great too. Can't wait for season 2
  6. That's pretty cool. Side note, looks like May doesn't want to go back to starting.
  7. There's only one new network show I'm interested in checking out and I didn't watch it yet. A Million Little Things.
  8. I'm sorry, but I never had much doubt they would tote the Trump line when it's all said and down. Senate and Congress work for Trump, which of course isn't supposed to be how it works at all. They aren't supposed to work for the President, they are supposed to work in the best interest of their constituents.
  9. He'll be confirmed tomorrow
  10. sorry I was talking about the difference in fWAR and BWAR. You gave bWAR numbers
  11. Some, but not the one that puts that much difference in WAR calculations. fWAR takes into account IP difference in it's calculations.
  12. He signed in 2010, and had a 1.0 fWAR in 2010. 1.6 fWAR in 2011...and worse as it went. He hit HRs, yes, but there more to offense, and the game overall, than HR. And, again, when Brock said what he said, he said when Howard signed he wasn't a premier player any more (not that he hadn't been before). 1.0 fWAR the year he signed. 30 HR or not, not a premier player.
  13. bWAR uses runs allowed (earned and unearned), fWAR uses FIP. There's your main difference.
  14. except when one figures it's the opposite of entertaining. I find the game as fun as ever. I doubt I'm alone. I like that teams are looking into the weeds of the game and playing smarter. No one is making fans who find the game boring now to keep watching.
  15. I meant to quote the article link and the paragraph that showed you were right and I was wrong (as opposed to giving the article link twice like I accidentally did) I went right back and fixed it.
  16. 'http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=2762203' 'The contract takes the Twins through Mauer's first year of free agency.' You are right. Thanks for the correction.
  17. Yeah, IP is included in fWAR. And they were worth the same fWAR. But yeah, no doubt Gibson helped the bullpen by pitching an inning more a game, but that doesn't change the dramatic difference in the perceptions of their respective seasons. Gushing over own, slamming the other. Not much difference overall, in how they performed on the mound. And as far as expectations of Odorizzi, this is his 2nd best season ever. He was worth 3 times what he got paid this year. What were people expecting and how realistic were expectations?
  18. Well, remember, Ryan did do a four year extension in 2007 covering 3 years of Mauer's free agency years (and Mauer was way underpaid for what he produced, where's the outrage?! :-)). But yeah, could have been longer and it likely would have been for less. Edit: Only one FA year bought out, thanks Brock. Point still stands. I agree with Brock, if Ryan had been able to get him to sign a longer contract in 2007, it would have been for less than the big one he signed with Smith. Not sure how much though.
  19. I think if Mauer had still won his 3rd batting title in 2009, but hit for less power (as he had most of his season), he still would have gotten a huge contract. Probably the same one. And Mauer did end up producing 4.5 WAR or higher in three of the four seasons following the signing of his contract (2010, 2012, 2013). His wRC in those seasons were 135 138, 143 (which is great for any position player, even more so for catchers). Then the concussion happened in the 2nd half of 2013, and THAT was the start of the big decline. Not him slacking off, not him being content with signing the contract, no him stopping to care. The decline started with the concussion that made him move positions.
  20. I think if some fans are finding baseball boring on how it's evolved, they can always stop watching. I don't think baseball needs to devolve to a less smart way of playing to appease some fans.
  21. Odorizzi's 2018 season FIP: 4.19. Gibson's: 4.18. Both gave us 2.6 fWAR. So many gush over Gibson's season (saying he's turned the corner) and lament Odorizzi's season.
  22. I am a fan of both players (More Pujols than Mauer), but Pujols is a slam dunk, no doubt, 1st ballot, elite level HOFer. If he had played his whole career in the AL, he would have dominated like he did in the NL.
