  1. Age line keeps getting younger and younger. 30, now 28. Pretty soon it will be 26. I'm thinking about getting season tickets to my local team that plays in the Pioneer League :-)
  2. that's not allowed unless it's the right time, whenever that unicorn of a time frame is.
  3. Yeah, not so much going belly up as back to playing the way the talent on this team should. Four months of baseball, we've had a losing record in three of them. And we will know when it's the right time to go for it at the trade deadline if/when there is ever a season where Ryan does it.
  4. July was our second best month and three of four months we've had a losing record.
  5. I know you didn't say anything about the Twins FO, but reading your quote I wondered if it extended to the Twins FO? Since, you know, they fit what you're saying more than the two examples you gave (TB and Atlanta) AND Oakland who has been to the playoffs the last three seasons. Also, for years, TB and Oakland got more win for the buck than pretty much anyone.
  6. it's all good. Point was that lots of incredible players have moved and when you consider the bust rates of even the top 20 guys, much less the ones not in the top 20, it's not so cut and dry that you are completely boning your team by using some of your prospects in a trade to actually try to win at the major league level and make the playoffs when an opportunity comes calling.
  7. I agree, which is why I would only advocate for trading Berrios or Buxton in the most unique situations. I haven't come across a purported trade scenario where I'd agree to put Buxton in (or Sano for that matter) and the only trade scenario I myself have put for Berrios in was one that involved getting the best shortstop in the game for four years. Those three are top 20 prospects and that group has the highest success rate (and that rate isn't that high either).
  8. I was talking MLB rankings not team rankings. You talking TEAM prospect rankings or MLB rankings? Cause, according the Baseball America's midseason top 50 (published in early June), Astros don't even have ONE top 20 guy.
  9. I have been one of the posters on the side of saying they should have done more, especially with them sliding lately and teams close behind us doing so much at the deadline. I also am tired of them not doing more. I think I've been clear on that. I think the main reason TR barely did anything is because that's his nature, especially during the deadline. I very often agree with Dave and quote him on here during debates when I see him talking about the same things and he agrees with my stance. So, I thought it was only fair that I quote him this time as well, even though I disagree with him in this instance.
  10. I'm curious as to who is calling the Braves front office great. Oh, and you do know the Braves went to the playoffs in 2010,2012 and 2013, right?. And that they fired their GM after not making it in 2014 and have a new GM? You also know the Rays also have a brand new front office this season and have gone to the playoffs twice since the last time we went? P.S., does you post that apply to the Twins FO? Haven't made the playoffs since 2010 and haven't won a playoff series since 2002.
  11. So during a chat today at Fangraphs hosted by an analyst whose opinion I really respect (Dave Cameron), a person asked this question: Q: Do you think Minnesota is sitting right or will they make another move to try to stick in the WC hunt? His response: 'I think they realize this isn’t going to last, no point throwing good money after bad.'
  12. '21 All Star, combining for 51 ASG selection, were traded since 6/1. Both figures are the most in at least 17 years'-MLB Communications.
  13. So, one? Who else was top 20 MLB prospect? Any top 5? How has Norris done the last 3 years? How about this year? I know little about him.
  14. it sure would be, but now is the time to get us ready for this. I'd rather see Rosario in LF, Buxton in CF, Hicks in RF, let Vargas and Arcia battle for DH
  15. For me, it has nothing to do with who we gave up. I mean, Hu cares? :-) My issue is while teams with similar markets as us are in playoff contention and going for it hard, we get Jepsen and that's it. Or maybe it's because no matter what we always have deadlines like this. But at least TR can say he did something. edit: sorry Mike, I never saw you call for no more.
  16. every year that TR completely underwhelms at the deadline, people point to August. August, where he has also completely underwhelmed.
  17. might as well send May down :-)
  18. And he hasn't exactly been stellar with inherited runs these last two seasons. Worse than our bullpen has been.
  19. Some seriously awesome players were acquired this last week or two. Some as rentals, some that give the new team years of play from their new guy. Did anyone trade a MLB top 20 prospect this last week or two? How about a top 5?
  20. I'm sticking to what I said early July. I'll be very happy if they win 75. I can't imagine them being able to finish with 81 or more wins. Our schedule remaining is rough and we've started sliding. I hope you are right Brock.
  21. Blue Jays right behind us for the 2nd wild card. They get Tulo, Price, Hawkins, Revere, Lowe. We get Jepsen.
  22. Blue Jays got Mark Lowe too
  23. I keep forgetting how everyone falls apart at age 30. My bad. Maybe they will bulk order some canes. I think they have at least next year and probably a couple more. Maybe they can go find a 39 year old RF like Ryan did this offseason to help them next year.
  24. They have Martin for years, Donaldson for years, Tulo for years, Devon Travis for years, Encarnacion for another year, Bautista for another year, and so on. They are way set up for next year too. So I think if their GM doesn't have his contract renewed (cause his contract is over at the end of this year, right?), the next GM has plenty of weapons still, even if they don't step up to pay Price or get a pitcher in FA.
